Lectures and powerpoints are often scattered and hard to follow. Very mono-toned and mellow, makes it hard to pay attention. Nice guy, but tests are difficult due to the lack of structure in power-points and unclear test material. Requires a self-evaluation project at end of semester.

Dr. O'Brien is truly a fantastic mastermind. His classses are hard and require a boatload of reading. You WILL be a smarter person after taking one of his classes. He gets a bad rap because he could be dry but his knowledge of the feild is endless. One of the only profs at Marywood who is actually worth the $$ we pay for credits.

Masterful professor. Earlier posts that detract are likely from students who were required to think and work, and could not get an easy A. Take this professor if you'd like your tuition $$s to mean something!

I can appreciate all other postings. Sometimes he is so scattered that he hurts his students i.e. the last persons schedule problem. It can be FRUSTRATING!But.He does havegood intentions toward his students. If your willing to do the work,and work hard, he will help you. His lectures are dry, but relevant and needed when we get into the real world.

O'Brien is very cerbral and earnest....he wants his students to work for their grade. However, I have found him very fair and interested in making his students learned....if you do decent work and show interest, he will nurture you and not help you grow.
