I had the pleasure of having Dr. Gustafson for 2-3 classes at White Pines College in the 1970s, and 3-4 classes at Northern Essex Community College in the 1980s. Therefore, I am probably better able to evaluate him than most other students. Dr. Gustafson is an EXCELLENT instructor! Unfortunately, he does NOT have very many good students....

I enjoyed taking his class. He was a really caring guy and as long as you do the work, you can easily pass the class. Nothing that he gives out is over the top. Everything is very manageable and easy. You have to have some patience because he is an older teacher but other than that, he was a caring and funny guy.

I took his intro to Phi 101 class, and it is the worst online experience I have ever had (over multiple semesters). The book (which he wrote) is confusing and heavily slanted in a christian direction. I am a christian myself, but I thought philosophy was about being open minded and investigating other ideas thoughts. Don't take this class!

Appears to be challenged w/technology, online course. Very poor communication. Condescending. Too much effort dealing with ineptitude, time and money spent better elsewhere. Find a different professor for this course. Do not recommend.

Took this class online ... Bad idea. Discussed his views of god throughout the entire course. Challenging him gets you nowhere. He only responds to those who agree with him. He says he grades you on how well you "grasp" the material...if you don't provide the exact feedback he wants, not going to get a good grade. More work than my physio chem clas

This was supposed to be a PHILOSOPHY course. It was actually just a CHRISTIANITY course in disguise. Because he wrote the text book, there are no opinions present aside from his own. One of the worst teachers that I've ever had. Nice guy, and might be a great Christianity teacher, but a HORRIBLE philosophy teacher. Just awful!!!!!!!!

This was the worst professor I have had to date. He expected ALOT of work and many essay exams. The exams wouldn't have been that bad, but his gorilla grading methods made it impossible to get a good grade. He is an Extreme Christian and is only interested in other Christians. I found his book which he wrote to be very boring and dragged on.

After I pointed some flawed logic that he used in his textbook (he wrote it), he changed the subject. I asked him again later, still didn't get anything from him. He tends to prefer to chat with the Christians, leaving those of different persuasions on the outside looking in on his circus of self-delusion.

I took Intro to Philosophy with him. He knows his stuff and is helpful/fair, but I must warn you that he has a major Christian agenda. The book (which he wrote) is extremely biased towards his traditional Christian views and he can be somewhat condescending. He believes in a lot of supernatural nonsense too.
