Lectures are dry, boring, and uninformative; tests frequently contain questions on subjects that are not discussed in class or in the book. Lanier's class is a LOT of self-teaching, because this guy simply can't and won't teach you himself.

Dr. Lanier is a great human being and probably a great psychologist. He has a lot of really interesting stories. Unfortunately, he's extremely old and hard of hearing and gets really off track really quickly. He's sweet, but not always helpful, and his tests are bearlike and hard if you haven't been keeping up with the reading. Teach yourself.

Lanier is a very nice and strange old man. He didn't seem very passionate, it was a very basic class, lots of facts, easy enough to pass, but not very personal. He's very sweet and definitely entertaining, though.

I loved Dr. Lanier!!! He's hilarious. The class was easy, he tells you exactly what pages to study for the test and doesn't make you write papers. Deffinitly take him!

He definitely is scatter-brained and hard of hearing, but definitely is qualified. But yes, like others have stated, be prepared to do the learning on your own with the text book. Usually he goes off on a tangent about one of his patients or France.

Dr. Lanier is clearly brilliant... but teaching requires more than the mind- it requires heart. With little direction, the student is resigned to do nearly all of the learning on his/her own from textbook. Even with Drs. Zimbardo and Weber's book, the class was mediocre, to be kind. Dr. Lanier may have serious credentials as a psychologist, but...

Hilarious! While a bit scatterbrained, he is extremely funny and gives real life examples of concepts taught in class. Well qualified with two PhDs and a vast amount of experience in his career.
