I took the online class and I highly recommend that people take the course in person. The online course consists of 5 quizzes and 5 discussions. I wish the course had assignments or online practice practicals to understand the material better. A study guide is not provided and the final exam is worth 60% of your grade (comprehensive final).

This is my second time taking her class. She is pretty straight forward but will make you second guess yourself. I took her class in person before I think that was a lot easier then online. Study, study and study!!!

She's a great professor. Very knowledgable and has a lot of experience. I personally went through so family issues regarding hospitals and police departments, and she helped me to the best she could and even checked in on me and my situation. She's a great person and actually pretty funny! Take her class and do the practice quizzes in the book

She is a sweet teacher, and knows her stuff. During lectures, she mostly reads from the book. I didn't use the patient book, mostly in the packet thats req. (which is must cheaper). All tests are multi choice, occasional written. Each test is about 2-3 chapters long. I suggest you study before each class to stay ahead! LOTS OF MEMORIZATION!

She is such a nice lady! She is very clear in speaking and knows A LOT about the medical field! I learned so much in her class. You have to memorize all the terms and you don't have any worksheets or note taking, so you are simply on your own.

Take her class in person, is much easier in person, the class does requires a lot of memorization so make index cards and study a lot. The teacher is very knowledgeable about the subject and she is very clear when teaching, but your grade depends on 3 or 4 multiple choice test and few fill in the blank questions, that why most student complain.

don't be deceived, her class is the easiest medical terminology class. everything is summarized for students, lectures are online, of course you need to read them and study them. put in a decent amount of time to study, essays should be direct to the point and short/concise. easy A

She's not as bad as everyone states. Not the best teacher, but certainly not the worst. She doesn't give precise study material, which I didn't like, and there's A LOT you need to know, but I am not super book smart yet I managed to get an A. She's a nice person with some good stories which help you retain some of the information. Good Luck!

Took the on-campus section. Yes, there are probably a million places you'd rather be than lecture, but tough it out and attend every week. Participate verbally regularly - it pays off - and attempt short answers on the quizzes even if you aren't sure. She wants to get to know you and wants you to succeed and learn. Easy A if you care.

Her lecture notes (one of the required texts for the class) were full of typos and weren't clearly written, which made it hard to know what she was talking about. I took the campus class, and all she did was summarize the reading, so class was long and pointless. Tests weren't hard, but sometimes her questions were ambiguous.

Professor Austin seems to have re-written her class notes and test questions many times over the years. Some were confusing, others were ambiguous. I took her online class, read everything assigned, did all the homework. The Purtillo book is common sense (at least, it should be)! Learned a lot of terminology. Met her at the exam. Nice lady.

I took the online course and it was very interesting. The class was pretty simple all you had to was read the modules and the terminology book. The Purtillo book I hardly used but I did need it to answer some questions. Shes a very nice lady I would take her again!

I took her online class, and got an A. 4 quizzes worth 25 points each, 1 extra credit quiz, and 20 points worth of discussion assignments. I didn't really read the Purtillo book, just what was needed to answer the discussion questions. Her final is in class, worth 150 points, so be prepared to study for it. Multiple choice, matching and 2 essays :D

I like the comments on here. Like:study hard and you can get an A in this class. Isn't it the same for any class?! Anyhow.I liked the class cause I liked the topic. Studied the terminology book and a little tge teacher's notes. I never opened the Putrillo book. I got 98% . Check your scores cause she makes mistakes sometimes. If u sit in the back, don't participate, play with your iphone or sleep...u won't do well.

Took her class online, 50% of your grade was based on the final exam. It wasn't bad at all. Easy A class if you are willing to put in hard work and all your effort. If you need a book feel free to email rhondabuenaventura@gmail.com

Thought she did a good job of teaching a subject (med terms) interesting. Would often add comments and examples based on her experience. One comment would be to make sure she answers your question as sometime she ignores or answers something completely different than what you asked

Pretty fair teacher. If you study and go to class you will get a good grade, if you don't go or open the book you are not going to pass. There was tons of typos in her lecture notes which was a little annoying. She did however offer extra credit on her tests which helps.
