Franko makes you work very hard, but she's an amazing teacher and speaker. I highly recommend taking her for EC133 as she gives you a comprehensive intro to Econ. She really cares about students and wants them to succeed.

Definitely not the easiest class, but if you are willing to put in a decent amount of studying the class is totally manageable. Prof Franko is such a great professor and made me love econ when I had no prior experience with it. Really smart woman and very good at teaching what she knows.

I'm not going to say that she's an easy professor, but definitely when she tells you to make study guides, do it. She gives practice tests before exams which are really useful, if you put the effort into doing them. Go to the review sessions. Hard class but if you put in the effort, it's definitely fulfilling.

Best economics teacher at Colby hands down. Extremely tough teacher and tough grader, but it is for the best. Stick it out, and you will learn a lot. Do not drop the class, do your reading, and work hard. Amazing experience.

This was the hardest class ever and she is a very unfair grader. No matter how much work I put into studying for exams I still came out with mediocre grades. Wish I took micro with another professor.

Patrice is great. Her Latin American Economics class is unlike any other Econ class I've taken at Colby, in a very good way. Get ready to think "outside the box" and be prepared to do a good amount of reading. I found her to have a captivating lecturing style, so I always looked forward to her class. Make sure you do the readings beforehand.

While another professor for EC133 simply read the textbook, she gave us extra readings and broadened our visions. The homework might be heavy, and the pace might be fast, but you would reap a lot. If you have the habits of reading newspaper, she's good for you... And if you fell asleep in class and missed some points, just ask her in the office.

Prof. Franko is among the best faculty members in the Economics department. She is a hard grader, but in a place with grade inflation that is a treat! You learn tons, improve your writing and analytical skills, and develop a really strong background on development topics. I had a blast in this class.

Even with all the effort/study time in the world, this Professor is INSANELY hard. Interesting classes and fun projects but tough exams. Whether you pass or fail, you'll definitely learn a bunch. But if you're not sure of majoring in econ, or if you need a GPA boost, please be wary of this class.

Franko is definitely harder than the other sections you can take for microecon principles, but you'll definitely learn if you put in the effort. Her exams are multiple choice and TFE (True/False, Explain). Pay attention in class and invest the time and effort to do well. Definitely go to her office hours to get clarification before exams.

All Colby teachers want you to succeed. Except Franko. If you don't do work EXACTLY how she wants it, it's wrong. Even if it's right. I thought this was college, not grade school. I was mistaken. She needs to realize that it can't be her way or the FAIL way because it's seriously unfair. I regret taking her class. I hope things can change.

Professor Franko is great. One of the best economic professors at Colby. If your mind goes beyond Wall Street, then take classes with her. If you're also able to do indepedent job, she's busy and expects students to do research on their own.

Seemed smart and knowledgeable in class. However, scarcely responded to emails, constantly busy before and after class, had a teaching assistant grade work. Very disappointing, expected much more help and attention considering it was a small class.
