Incredible professor+very well respected in the field of environmental ethics. It is easy to establish a good relationship with him because he is so humble and kind. He would periodically stop the block lecture and allow us to do yoga and get a bite to eat. He likes socratic style classes and appreciates it if you participate. Would highly suggest!

Professor Wapner is an amazing professor. I took him for What is Suffering. 3 essays and participation essentially determine your grade, but the subject material is interesting. He is a very sweet and smart person who makes an effort to connect with his students and you can tell he is passionate about the material. Take his class!

Comment:
Prof. Wapner takes a completely different approach to teaching students than any other professor I have seen before. He is beyond ethical in his methods and provides really great feedback on both papers and in-class participation. His lectures can be a bit disorganized and dry, but nonetheless you will learn so much more than you would expect.

Professor Wapner is amazing. Talk about someone who really knows his stuff. He's such a cool guy and really keeps class interesting. The readings aren't boring either, but there is a decent amount of reading. However, they are really engaging and he usually breaks them up; you won't be reading 100 pages of the same journal. I would take for an FYS!

Amazing thought provoking class. Took his class What Is Suffering for First Year Seminar. Got into very in-depth conversations each week about readings and related topics If you have any interest in the environment definitely take his class as he is extremely knowledgeable. 3 papers for most of the grade, participation counts.

SISU-106: What is Suffering- Awesome class taught by Prof. Wapner. 1st time teaching it so the curriculum wasnt polished, but he is super laid back but still expects hard work and for you to read. Almost all classes were discussion based, so participatio is definitely good, if only to understand the material. 3 major essays. a few small assignmen

Prof. Wapner was an amazing professor. He leads a highly discussion based class and pushes his students to go beyond the readings in their analysis. He is definitely not a harsh grader though, the class was 2 essays and a final which was not particularly difficult.

Wapner's a really good guy. There's two papers, a group project, a midterm, and a final- pretty standard. Assigns a TON of reading but you can get away with faking it. Really emphasizes discussion so participation is a must. He's a fair grader, too. I definitely recommend him!

I had professor Wapner for an honors colloquia on Environmentalism and liked his class and teaching style so much that I decided to take International Environmental Politics with him the next semester. Professor Wapner is not preachy, and while at times a little spacy, he does care deeply about what he is saying, and the students he teaches.

Far and away the worst professor I have ever had. Almost killed any interest I had in the subject and made me rethink attending graduate school. Is a very easy grader though, so that's something.
