Comment:

He is genuinely a nice professor but this guy grades you as if you're a music major. I only took this class for an elective and it was rough, thank goodness it was hybrid or I wouldn't have done well. His essays are ridiculous, grades tough.

I bought my textbook for $120 and we barely used it, he is EXTREMELY lecture heavy and always randomly calls on students to answer questions. I took this to fulfill my liberal arts requirement as a nursing student and regret taking it. If you're taking this class just be prepared for a lot of work.

Youre gonna have to work quite a bit for this class. I failed most of his tests but the only thing that kept me from failing was his final paper and the concert papers. Hes nice though just study A LOT

Grades like we all enrolled in a Music Major. He lectures and talks all class and it is very boring. He is very monotone when speaking therefore the 50 minute class 3 times a week feels like 2 in a half hours 3 times a week. He grades very harshly when it comes to papers so make sure if you do have his class to write 10 pages (not literally)

Okay, so first off I don't even like music classes and this professor made me hate it even more. 10/10 highly DO NOT recommend for anyone to take him. His papers are sooo ridiculous and takes such a long time to do it. He does not really care for you if you are not a music major. If you cant get into a different music class, do so if possible!

He's an ok teacher, but his attitude is too much. Where most professors will ask one question to a student and be done, or take their best try got participating he sometimes asks many until the student eventually get a question wrong, and clearly gets some ego boost out of that fact). He's not the type of professor that should be teaching core.

Nice man, great musician-see him perform live, its a real treat. He is very knowledgable and an interesting lecturer. Gives you an appreciation of types of music not previously familiar with b/c of his passion. Take notes, pay attention, work hard and he'll reward you for your efforts.

He's a nice guy, but if your not paying attention for a second HE WILL CALL ON YOU. Advice: Don't talk while he plays music, always pay attention (or look like you are), and be prepared to take LOTS of notes.

Doesn't know how to work the volume controls on the recordings he uses in class. I only know this because his Language of Music class was right next door to the class I was taking at the same time. Very good clarinet teacher, though.

You must take notes for his class and study them for the tests. Class is very boring seems to take 50 hours instead of 50 mins. He is not very clear or helpful in writing your two papers, and gives very critical and rude comments in grading them.
