If you like to FAIL take this instructor. First day of class he will brag on how many students fail his course and how he has a small list of people who have gotten an A from him on his door. He expects everyone to have a photographic memory. This course is known to be difficult and he will make it more difficult.

I was told to not take this class w/him. But I loved him, he was too precious! Of course, the material is hard, but Dr. Welch makes it straight forward and is pretty fair on his tests. Read the chapter & do the homework... and you'll get an A! :)

People told me not to take this class with him, but I am so glad I did, Dr. Welch is precious! When a class has a 45% national pass rate, obviously the material is difficult, but if you read the book & do the homework problems, you should do fine on the exams! He's a fair guy and doesn't try to trick you on exams like other professors.

He is definitely a difficult teacher. Old fashioned in the sense that the lectures should clarify things, not introduce you to the topic. Read before class. Lectures are lightning fast and difficult to understand. Expects you to know most of the stuff, doesn't clarify much. Will be lecturing on Ch 9 while you are studying for Ch 6 quiz. Very hard.

This teacher is the reason why people drop out of school. He needs to retire. He puts slides up that are backwards and never realizes it. He does not know how to teach and does not care at all about students being able to actually learn from his class. Do anything you can to not take his class.

For example, when we were preparing for a quiz on chapter 4 he would be lecturing on chapter 6. There is an SI class offered but that is only helpful if you don?t have a conflicting class. I have never rated a professor & feel bad but I students shouldn't have to put up with this crap.

During lectures he races through the material as if we are all experts at O-Chem and doesn?t walk you through any problem thoroughly. Lecture material was completed in the 10th-11th week of a class that is supposed to be 16 weeks long.

Where do I start with this guy? If you want to fail Organic Chemistry definitely take Dr. Welch?s class. First off you have to buy his notebook packet which you would think is awesome and would help you throughout the class but think again. His note packet is USELESS!!!

He is a very nice guy, but AVOID AT ALL COSTS! He had a stroke a few years ago, and I honestly think he needs to retire. I have never had such a hard time in a class before. He lectures miles ahead of what the most current test is on. He has a course pack and you fill in the blanks as he goes. This is a hard course, and he makes it even harder.

This was the hardest class I have ever had to sit through at CSUSM. Not hard because the material is difficult but hard in the fact it felt like high school. No control of the classroom and he still uses a PROJECTOR with slides. It is so unclear as to what is on the quizzes and tests and he just tells stories about health food, really awful.

Welch is not a good teacher for beginning students. He repeats the information in the notes and doesn't explain it further. If you ask for clarification, he responds "That's what SI is for." He is intelligent and passionate about his subject, but doesn't seem to know how to teach. His lectures can get chapters past the tests, leaving you confused.

I don?t think anybody can tell you how bad this professor is. He has to take some classes to learn how to teach. He just copied the notes, and he doesn?t care if you learned it or not. I have never tried this hard for any other classes. I think His the worst professor in CSUSM.

Worst teacher I have ever had. He will try to be friendly but he doesn't have any idea what he is doing when it comes to teaching. Reads from notes, doesn't know how to answer questions. Consistently incorrectly grades exams, quizzes and final. Avoid at all cost.

He does not answer questions, he oversimplifies the question and restates what was said IN Lecture he just reads notes and we fill in the blanks on copies of the notes it is like copying a dictionary and useless for learning. He puts things on quizzes that he says he wouldn't put on quizzes Im not surprised that people learned more from SI than him

in any subject, science or otherwise, dr. welch was the best professor i have ever had. material is challenging, but is crystal clear in explaining it. he prints the notes for you so you can focus on the material! he clearly wants you to succeed. you wont be spoonfed, but remember kiddos, you wont be spoonfed for the mcat.

Awful teacher, more interested in showing off what he knows than in teaching it. Does not seem to understand that the material is difficult and challenging for students. Lectures are confusing and do not explain the material. Avoid this professor if you can.

Never made a grade below a B until this class, even w/ LOTS of hard work. Nice man, though he does like to brag on himself in class. I learned from SI, not from his lectures, which were unclear even w/ preprinted lecture notes & were too fast-paced (he finished the material early). Very hard - glad it's over!

Dr. Welch does not make this class hard; all you have to do is read and do the HW. theres quizzes on every chapter and 5 tests but he makes them easy if you've taken the time to study. take the time to study and you'll do fine and SI is SOOOO helpful, I learned more in SI than I did at any of his lectures

The most pointless class I have ever taken. He was informative but her forgot things all the time. He would test us on things that we never learned and refuse to give you the points back that you missed because of his mastakes. He is a nice man but he needs to retire.
