Comment:

I am a dedicated student with a 4.0, I study and do the work. Dr. Hayes was a TERRIBLE instructor! His "study guide" was a joke and the wording on his exams is confusing. I swear he wants you to do poorly! The final paper was great (I love doing research) but his exams and his attitude are horrible for a teaching environment. Avoid him if possible.

Took this class a while ago. Andrew is an amazing scholar and teacher. You people bashing him should stop complaining and start putting in required work as students. Jeez! Yes, his classes are tough, but I got a TON out of them. World class expert on the subject matter! Great guy! Super clear! Expect to be doing a lot of work!

This course was a glorified stats class on COMM steroids. Worst class I have ever taken in my three years at OSU. Hayes has no interest in teaching and it shows. TA's were just as clueless as him. Impossible to pay attention to. Avoid taking this class if you can.

Arrogant. Poor test writing skills. The TA Laura gave wrong answers for the study guide (contradicting my correctly filled out study guide,)making an already very poorly worded test even more of a nightmare. When I approached him after class with questions the first week he was very dismissive- did not appear to have much interest in students.

Horrible class. Honestly was just a stats class on an ego trip. This professor obviously does not really want to be teaching us low life undergrads, but just does it because he has to. Study guides were hilarious, So useless.In some sort of joke to mess with my mind I got an A on the 15 page final paper (which we had in addition to a final exam!)

Very boring teacher. He spoke in a mono-tone voice every class and his lectures were pointless. I think i took a nap each time. You will NEVER need the book, so don't waste the $100. So boring avoid at all cost.

Not an exaggeration to say that he is THE worst professor I have ever encountered in my life. As other have said he is conceited and haughty. He disparages others to build his own self esteem is my best guess...he will regale you with "little Andy" stories which further show his lack of self esteem. He clearly shows favoritism.

I can not figure out why people say this man's class is easy. Yes he passes out the ?'s, but I used his notes, and the textbook extensively, and I still only got like 1 A on 3 tests, the rest were a V and C-, while like 20 would get above 100's. Like other said, he is full of himself, and I think he favors quite frankly.

The tests were ridiculously difficult and they were worded very poorly. His classes were boring and neither he nor the class wanted to be there. I dont know how but I managed a B and i'm glad i don't have to sit through that again.

worst prof at osu. only word to describe his classes: painful. he is so so so so so so boring, i have never seen more than 3 people awake in any lecture. dont even bother with office hours unless you want to feel angry and insulted. i am a straight a student and this class was impossible. .

Dr. Hayes' lectures are pretty boring but he does take random attendance in class which will help him determine grades. The exams are extremely easy -- he passes out the test questions beforehand and the research project is fairly easy as well.

Seriously, this class is so easy. He givves you all midterm questions in advance, so there is no reason why you should do bad on examsThe paper is not too bad and niether are homework assignments. He isn't the nicest guy in the world, but that doesn't matter because everyone should do well in this class.

This was the hardest class I have ever taken. The midterm was extremely painful (it made me cry)! However, Andrew is a fantastic professor and he really knows how to teach this stuff. Although the class was frustrating at times, it was increadibly useful and I feel really prepared to apply what I have learned.

Definitely a researcher... not a good instructor, but only because he's not helpful at all. He's one of those guys that wants to be involved strictly with research, but "has" to teach a class or two because he's required. I had little to no problems w/ him, but I've definitely heard other people's horror stories. Too bad this class is required.
