Actually made me enjoy coming to Aural Skills, which I didnt think would be possible. He never made us do more than we could handle, while still challenging us, which was a good balance. Not overloaded with homework, treats it like the 2 credit class it is.

Comment:

The best professor I have ever had. I was skeptical of his teaching style for the first half of the semester before I suddenly became aware of how vastly my knowledge of music theory and analysis has expanded without me even realizing. He really is a genius that will inspire you to love and listen to music in a way you never thought possible.

I never missed an 8am Form and Analysis class. Having him for an upper level seminar after FOUR semesters of Cadwallader was like flying out of a burlap-covered cage into a jewelled room.

If theory isnt your strong suit, best avoid this one. He'll pick on you and call on you in class frequently. Class is interesting, but hard. He will however, always be available to help during office hours. He means well, but has a definite attitude with a strong touch of arrogance.

theory with mr. alegant is hands-down my favorite class this semester. he is hilarious in class, makes theory fun, and more than anything he knows his****. he's one of the best teachers i've ever had, and even though it's a tough class to do well in, alegant makes me actually WANT to work hard to succeed. i'd recommend him to anyone!
