Comment:
In terms of teaching Weide is great. He is very good at explaining things and making them easy to understand. Unfortunately the course material sucks. In my opinion, and the opinion of many others, RESOLVE is a useless framework. I am sick of working with programmers at OSU who know nothing but bad coding habits that they learned from RESOLVE.

Best professor I have had so far at OSU. Explained concepts extremely clearly and helped me understand the value of RESOLVE. I left every day of class feeling that I had learned something new. Honors version avoids annoying activities and if you deserve an A you will get it. I personally really liked this class.

Weide is awesome. His language not only enforces a programming discipline that prevents long term problems such as hard to find bugs / memory leaks, but his commenting structure allows for a team of programmers to communicate with no ambiguity. I would rather work with a programmer who follows this format than a half-ass "super" hacker any day.

Pretty good professor, overall seems interested in teaching. More than will to help during office hours and class.

I doubt these students claiming RESOLVE has no benefit have done much real programming, or even taken CSE 560. I'm in both 222 and 560 right now, and our group found RESOLVE to be very worthwhile. As for professor Weide, the work he has done in the field of SCE is very good, yet he still truly cares about teaching. One of my best teachers at OSU.

I would have to say that in two classes and 8 credit hours I learned next to nothing. The SCE sequence of classes are taught using RESOLVE, which is probably one of the most forced languages I have ever encountered. When asked about some aspects of the language, Bruce(one of its founders) had a hard time demonstrating any real world practicality.

Super nice guy, very helpful if you seek him out, though think he needs to provide more real world examples of stupid things that happen to justify what coding practices are taught.

decent teacher, but responsible for the idiotic "language" RESOLVE/C++ which is basically C++ with extra, unneccessary typing with little real benefit. I am going to be thrilled to be out of the initial CSE 221-222-321 sequence after winter quarter so that I can learn in a language I will use...

Excellent teacher in terms of explaining and teaching, a little too attatched to the theoretical superiority of his RESOLVE baby to recognize/discuss practical limitations.
