Dr. Ostrowski is an amazing professor. He is by far my top 5 favorite at MTSU. He assigns 3 papers and they are all super easy and straight forward. He gives amazing feedback on rough drafts and is always accessible outside of class. You will have to do some reading in his class and there are random pop quizzes on the reading. Overall I recommend.

I took this professor during covid and we had two weekly discussion boards. There were 3 essays and I found them to be easy. However, the final exam was hard. There are two books the final will be over and the questions he asked will make you think. If you want to pass the final, make sure you reread. Overall the teacher is nice.

Wow. Dr. Ostrowski renewed my love for learning & respect for skilled instructors. He engages the class & makes students WANT to contribute & think for ourselves by encouraging our opinions & validating them. His feedback on papers was excellent & helpful. Three papers and a final exam & presentation. Expect quizzes! Extra credit. Loved this class!

Pretty simple class, the only test is the final. He gives mini quizzes each class but they're super easy. He gives essays but they're fairly easy topics to write on and he gives you plenty of time to write. As long as you do the reading you'll be fine!

He's not the worst professor ever, but not very good either. Made a B by the skin of my teeth, he's a very tough grader. Doesn't use d2l at all so it's difficult to know your grades and you have to submit everything in person. He also has tons of pointless discussions about social issues for about 95% of the class and maybe 5% actual English.

Be ready to read! He gives random quizzes to make sure you are keeping up with the reading. The class was set up to be discussion over the reading and he would sometimes lecture grammar. He allowed papers to be given to him in the draft process and he would have incredibly helpful feedback. Best English teacher I've ever had.

He's actually a really good teacher. He expects you to know how to write and will count points off for major errors (comma splice, fragment, etc). He also has a very deadpan, sarcastic sense of humor, which is kinda funny. He's fair, pretty easy, and I honestly enjoyed having him for this class, despite how boring English is as a class.

Ostrowski is incredibly knowledgable on Poe and the gothic era of literature. I looked forward to the readings and his lectures. This class was a lot of work, but it is an interesting topic and he teaches it well. His passion for the subject is contagious and he is a fantastic professor. Definitely one of my favorite classes.

If you struggle with the conventions of writing, don't take him. He expects his students to have a very good grasp on writing. However, he does let you send him rough drafts of your paper before the due date and he will point out things to fix. If you fix his corrections, you'll get a good grade. Be ready to work your ass off. But ha makes it fun.

Dr. Ostrowski is absolutely amazing. He is a VERY tough grader, but he gives very clear, precise feedback that helps you on future papers. He gives four extra credit papers for you to do. He gives pop quizzes over readings, so do the reading. Overall, he is my favorite professor I've ever had. Definitely would take this class or him again.

This class was tough and required a lot of extra work, but the content made it excellent. (Keep in mind that I'm an English major!) He has an innocent, almost dry sense of humor and has an obvious genuine interest for his class's well-being. You will need to work for your grade, but if you aren't the best writer, I wouldn't suggest this class.

His American Mythology class is very interesting. He clearly knows his American Lit. He puts a lot of emphasis on class participation (10% of your grade) so you have to contribute to class discussion every day. He has you read excerpts from the text book (which is very large) for every class and gives weekly quizzes. He is understanding, flexible.

I can't say enough about this guy. I wish I could have him for every class, every semester. His dry, deadpan sense of humor keeps class interesting, but he is also brilliant, and knows what he's talking about. His love of literature is obvious, and he clearly values everyone's opinions and never talks down to us. Awesome professor.

The best English professor I've ever had. He clearly loves literature and makes it contagious with his discussions. Challenging, but not a jerk by any means. He respects everyone's opinion and values all input, but isn't afraid to assert his own and correct people when they are way off. I can't say enough about this guy, but I think I already have.

Incredibly knowledgeable, fair grader (but expects that you do your work) and all around great guy. The work load can be demanding (article critique and research paper, along with lots of reading a daily quizzes) but it's worth it for what you gain.
