There are several group projects so if you want to make sure you get good grades on those take this class with some friends. Overall the videos she had were really useful and made everything make sense and was a overall pretty ok/good prof. This class uses mathxl and she lets you retake each quiz twice, the worst score is dropped. No final

Comment:

I personally really liked the online program (Pearson MathXL) which was basically the whole class. I really like that there were several attempts allowed on homework, quizzes, tests, etc. Prof was really nice and allowed redos on project when we missed something. Was 4-5 group projects, would recommend reaching out to classmates or take w/a friend

Comment:

Carleas class was very straightforward. Two online homework assignments and online quiz per week, all through Math XL which I really liked. You had multiple opportunities on the quizzes which was nice. Three group projects and one individual, all of which were pretty easy. Overall her class was easy and interesting. It felt very relavent!

Truly a legend. Fair and approachable. She has a gift for integrating math into real world scenerios that make it easier to understand. Lots of assignments but she is a fair grader. Lovely human and SPSCC is lucky to call her their own. Carlea for president!!!!!

If you wanna spend an extra 64$ FOR A MATH XL ( rip off khan academy) and have a teacher who won't teach and makes you watch random youtube video and grade you on ur notes and gives extremely biased tests than take her if not stay away as far as possible.

This class was the Clippers math which was basically three classes in one 95, 96, and 146. She makes it very clear at the beginning that it will be a lot at the beginning which it really is. But she has step by step videos if you're confused. And you HAVE to participate in group projects. If you don't I doubt you'll pass.

If you have inactive group mates, report them immediately, otherwise she might get confused by lack of submissions. Her general feedback on assignments makes it obvious that she skim reads submissions. All in all, not a bad prof. I'd give a 4.5 if I could.

Expect no help other than watching her videos. She ignored my pleas for help with you arent struggling you have an A. Ignored e-mails asking for 1:1. Luckily other students did her job for her. MathXL is the only reason I passed. Slow grader. Make sure your grades match because sometimes she enters them wrong. Never again

Carlea is by far one of the best instructors I've ever encountered. She has a way of teaching that is very clear and she is willing to work with you one on one to ensure you understand what is being taught. I struggled with math but not so much with her. Pay attention and do all of your assignments on time and this class will be a breeze.

This was definitely my favorite math class I've ever taken. For each lesson, she includes an example video that shows you how to do the work, which helped a lot. There are four group projects, which are easy as long as your group communicates well and doesn't procrastinate. No final test, just a final portfolio, which was easy to do.

Carlea McVoy is an amazing professor! Math is not my favorite thing in the world. I took her class online. It was fantastic. There is a very clear syllabus and off you go. I appreciated the homework could be done until you got 100% (as long as its on time, 2% deduction every day its late) this is HUGE for me, brings up my grade! She is the best!!

Hands down the best math teacher I have ever worked with in school! She really cares and will give you credit for wherever its needed the most. I took her class online and she made it so easy for me to follow her lectures step by step!

The most difficult aspect of this class are the group projects but overall it is very manageable. The professor gives you many opportunities to do well in her class like two chances on quizzes. I highly recommend her and her class.

The videos she created for teaching with are spectacular, she gives multiple ways to solve problems and teaches way better than any textbook. I'm struggling in my higher up class without her now :(

Professor Mcavoy is very kind and her online lecture videos are easy to follow. The program that is used for online homework and quizzes is helpful. The online group projects were pretty easy as long as your group members participated. Would recommend this professor to anyone wanting to take the class.

Comment:

Intro to Stats wasn't a super easy class, there was homework and quiz assignments each week, and I found that some of her lecture videos were out-of-date. There were 3 group projects and 2 individual projects. Sometimes it was hard to reach her by email. The best part of the class was that there was only 1 midterm test.
