I do not even know what I was supposed to learn. There was no guidance. I got 100% on everything and did almost nothing. A total waste of time.

Accurate Review*** Professor is a complete disaster and mess. The class is very disorganized and Professor treats students unequally. He knows what he is talking about, but isn't open to suggestions or adaptations. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS Homework heavy and lecture heavy!

If you can change your professor... PLEASE DO IT! He is very sarcastic when you ask him questions. In addition, he will answer your question with a question. He's a very hard grader and he gives you little feedback about why you received that grade . I barely made a B in his class. One of the WORST professors i've had at Capella!

Took him at Saint Leo University Online and he is horrible! No feed back or elaboration on assignments and in an online class this makes it very difficult the average grade on his test were never above a 68!

Comment:

Dr. Contreras was fair in grading and when attempting to help with problems. However, since his background is in math/statistics, I believe he expects students to understand statistics on a comparable level as his; this is usually not the case since this was the first stats course I had ever taken. Overall, Dr. Contreras is a good instructor.

stats is a difficult class to learn, let alone learn in an online environment. dr contreras let me turn in late assignment due to some family/medical problems i was having. i really like the supplemental instruction. help out a lot with such a difficult class. i would take him again.

This professor is not really anything to write home about. If you are a independent self starter and do not need or want alot of hand holding then you will do fine in the course. Other than that he is utterly unremarkable as an educator.

Prof. Contreras graded assignments in a timely fashion. On a few occasions he was rude/short with students when they asked what seemed to be logical questions for clarification about assignments. Gave little feedback except to correct students if off track. Wouldn't highly recommend him, but wouldn't necessarily avoid him either. Just okay.

He expects you to do the work of an upper level graduate student. He'll assist you with your assignments, but won't hold your hand. He isn't very active with discussions or responses, but he will tell you what needs to be improved or offer alternate solutions to a topic that was proposed.

Doesn't give positive feedback and provides almost no help during class. Never tells you why something would work-only that it might work or doesn't work-with no suggestions on how you could improve your idea. Got absolutely no positive feedback from him. I echo the other comment about avoiding him at all costs.

Comment:

Dr. Contreras was very conscientious about marking papers on time and with feedback. Seemed to disappear for 3-4 days at a time so didn't get a lot of discussion feedback from him, which wasn't that necessary anyways. I found the course relatively easy and his supplemental notes should have made things crystal clear. No compliants about him.

It would be nice to hear a positive comment from this teacher, but, when he does post, he's very critical and his comments are unhelpful. He doesn't seem to want to help his students be successful in the class. Stay away from this teacher, even if you have to drop the class, get another teacher.
