PROF AKIBA is a great professor. He tried his best to make the class fun, made tons of jokes, etc. Midterm, Final and 2 papers. The tests were open-book which helped A LOT. I highly recommend his class.

had him for my thesis class. he doesn't require the class to meet every week. instead, he'll set up 4 individual meetings with you to discuss your thesis over the semester. the thesis only needed to be 15 -25 pages (trust me, that's nothing!) if you are the type to need constant guidance when writing your thesis then do not take him. i recom. him!

Just finished my thesis!!! He is really knowledgeble, helpful and uplifting. He tells like it is, which I appreciate. The only problem is that I had to fight to get into his section because everyone wants him but the effort was well worth it!!!!!

He is arrogant and thinks he better than you. He is not understanding. Makes comments on your work but does not explain. Wrote the thesis paper myself without his help. No patience at all. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!

He is really nice, the only male professor under 75 in the dept. He gives 2 tests and 2 papers and 1 presentation. He doesn't always take attendance but he somestimes does. He was helpful when I couldnt think up my presentation topic. He dresses nice. I liked the totto-chan book. I will definetely take him again.

Was supposed to be WI and was not at all. take home midterm and final. 2 simple projects. shortened class length, but taught everything clearly and I didn't feel that I lost anything I was to gain from the class. Would take him again.

Dr. Akiba is extremely helpful and intelligent. He's very understanding and laid back. I went to class once. I met with him once. I communicated via email (he doesn't respond quick if he responds) and I wrote my thesis on my own. I got an A.

A really nice professor. His grading is fair. He gave one midterm take home and one final take home. He assigns one assignment and one presentation. I enjoyed his class overall. He's very knowledgable. Take this professor!

He was the best prof I ever had. Sometimes things don't make sense in the book but you hear him explain and things all of a sudden make sense. He sometimes does class demonstrations without telling us first so we can really see what happens psychologically. Oh and he is also an eye candy.

he seems arrogant because he looks a little unapproachable (ie, young & hot). but if you talk to him, you know he's caring. he said that ambiguities are at the core of my learning process. words to live by!!! i was a nervous nellie before i took his class but he made me realize that ambiguities were actually motivating me to learn.

he made so many blunt comments on my drafts that i kept on thinking i was failing. but he told me toward the end how great my study was and gave me a certificate of achievement. i feel great cuz i feel like i really earned this. thank you professor!

He is so cute and funny, but don't let that fool you. He's brilliant and his standards are high, and some people obviously don't have what it takes to even notice that in class. Appointment? What is that about? He is ALWAYS in his office!!!!!!!!

You'll hear open book midterm and take home final nd think the class is a breeze but it's not. Hardest midterm ever! He's a really really really tuff grader! And if u try and talk to him after hes so rude. He wont let u in hs office unless u make an app.
