At first, a little intimidating. The first few days had me wondering if I should drop or try and stick it out. After that it gets better. It's a tough class but he's willing to help out a lot. Teaching style is interesting, but he's pretty good for the most part. A lot of work in this class.

It was an interesting class. He can ramble at times, but always gets to the point. He stays after class to help and there is also a TA to help answer questions. The subject matter could be a little boring but he kept it entertaining. His tests aren't too bad. Overall the class was not a complete waste of time.

One of my worst teachers ever. His lectures are pointless. Sadly, you have to rely completely on the TA if you want to pass the class so hopefully you have a good one. His job is "too important" to spend any time out of class to meet or help. He makes comments that are completely inappropriate. If there's another teacher available, take their's.

Teaches in a very pontificated manner. If Professor Golightly does not agree with what is said, he will dismiss the idea as erroneous. Neither open to discussion nor constructive with students inquiries. Look for the good and one will still have a positive experience with Professor Golightly.

I like George. The class is not that hard if you study people!! Pay attention when you are doing the assignments, because that is what you need to know for the tests. I hope you get Pablo for a TA because he is awesome. Take advantage of him, he is so happy to help.

After reading all the reviews for George I was terrified to take this class but I had to. I loved this class! It was the best Geog class I have ever taken. It's difficult and you must put a lot of effort into learning the concepts but if you're interested in the subject, you'll be ok. George seems like an intimidating guy at first but he's awesome!

The class is tough-even though he gives you the questions to the tests, you are completely caught off guard. Don't underestimate them. The TA isn't much help; better to work as a group with classmates. George can get really off topic sometimes and unless you have a sense of humor, you won't like him.

He is very intimidating and embarrasses people. Classes don't have much to do with assignments and class, so many people are lost most of the time.

If you study hard for the first test, you can coast through the rest of the semester. If you don't have a sense of humor (like most people at BYU), you might not like him. Don't expect much help from the TA, he treats you like an idiot. I highly recommend George, it isn't that hard.

Unfortunately for you, you are probably looking up George because you have to take him. Good luck! He has not a clue about teaching yet expects you to learn and know information not in the text. The first test takes you off guard completely, the second test is a complete joke, and the final he gives you a word bank of answers and is not too bad.

Class is easy as pie if you have half a brain and put in some time. Yeah, lectures weren't very useful, but the labs do help you prepare for the tests. He read the test questions the class before hand so you knew exactly what he would ask, then you just had to study that.

He's a good guy but is not very good at teaching. You can't really avoid him if you are Geog major. Use and abuse the TA b/c they will clarify what he talks about in class and lab. You have to put in at least double the time outside class to do well. That's just the facts. DON'T WEAR RED IN HIS CLASS. HATES U of U

George is a great guy one-on-one, but he SUCKS at lecturing!!! Everyone just stares at him and can't wait until he is done so that they can ask the T.A. to clarify. The tests are hard, and most of the labs are vague and take a long, long time. My advice is to get a study partner and be prepared to work your butt off!

The fact that the entire class is staring blankly unable to figure out what your ramblings have to do with anything should indicate that you should not be teaching. I think George is a nice person. No doubt he was a skilled military navigator, or whatever he did. But, his teaching skills are appalling. It is all up to you and the TA...

George was a great teacher. The material is hard, especially the first test. Just use the TA and maybe come in for both labs, instead of just one, and you'll do fine. He's a very funny teacher and keeps things entertaining. A word of advice for this class: Don't give up!

Had George for the "make it or break it" class in geog. At first he comes off as harsh- but he is really a puppy dog. His tests are on the difficult side- but I had him for a difficult class. Use the TA and labs!

George is an awesome teacher. Tells great stories and loves football. His class will seem EXTREAMLY hard for the first test. After that it is a breeze. Go to the labs and have the TA's help you and you will get through the first test without a problem
