Dr. Lewis is amazing. She encouraged and supported me artistically. She encouraged me to not drop my differentness for the sake of academic formality and it has benefited my career and set me apart from my peers.

Dr. Lewis is a fantastic professor! Humorous and inviting, as well as clear on her expectations for the class. She is very helpful and her communication skills are great. There is a lot of critical writing, but it benefits more than you might think. Enjoyed every class. More than likely the best English professor I have yet experienced.

I felt my writing definitely improved in her creative writing class. At the end of the course, she'll be just like your grandmother to you. There's actually a lot of reading involved in the course, so make sure you make time for that. You're almost certain to make new friends in her open classroom atmosphere. Oh, and watch your cliches!

Dr. Lewis is the grandma you always wished you had. She's very sweet and helpful. Sometimes it would be preferable for her to get a bit angry at people who skip or turn things late for its frustrating for people who do show up. The books are a must although the quizzes are a breeze. You'll definitely improve if you just take time to do it.

Atmosphere is very different; a tiny room with a big table. She never actually teaches writing, you learn from the books you read. The entire class is up-close and personal, reading your pieces of writing aloud almost every class period. So be prepared to read your stuff. There is always a writing assignment to do. Very nice teacher, though I'm not sure my writing actually improved.

I adore Dr. Lewis. She is one of the best teachers at UCO, and she's so cute. But you HAVE to do the readings and homework. She gives a lot of both, and they aren't necessarily easy, but they will definitely enhance your learning and understanding of American Literature. She gives no in-class tests. Both MidTerm and Final are take home, but they are time-consuming. Do NOT start the night before. She is extremely helpful and loves every student though. Just ask her if you don't understand.

Dr. Lewis is excellent. She is a genuinely kind, caring person, she loves teaching, she loves literature, and she loves her students. Her lectures are sometimes a little dry and she assigns quite a bit of low-value homework, but she was my favorite teacher in the semester I had a class with her.

My absolute favorite Professor! I have taken Dr. Lewis for two semesters and love her to death. She truly cares about each student and will do all she can to help. Her grading is fairly simple and lax, lots of reading, but the tests are take home and the quizzes are very simple. Her lecture style is very informative and has a great sense of humor.

The bottom line is, if you don't like literature, don't take a lit class. All of the negative reviews you see on this page are clearly from lazy people who don't want to commit. The reason we pay so much for this education is to learn something right? Don't avoid Lewis because of the workload. She is an amazing professor.

Ok, this course requires you to read the textbooks. I never read them once and got an A. There is alot of busy/tedious work, but not hard. If you show SOME effort, an A is inevitable. Nice prof, but VERY BORING to listen to if you are not interested in literature.

Dr. Lewis is a good professor. She expects a lot out of her students, but there is no reason for anyone to not make an A in the class. There is a lot of busy work, but nothing hard.

Yes she is a sweet lady and the class isn't hard but I really do not like her grading style. In this class you will learn about writing styles of the authors, but if YOU don't write with the style she wants then you'll have a prob. You can get by without doing the reading, she gives little weekly quizes and assignments worth 5points class is boring
