Comment:
Dr. Fenwick is really cool and he conveys the material really well in-person, but for our hybrid there was a stronger focus on quizzes written by students. Unfortunately, the whole process felt kind of redundant. You read a chapter, write a quiz question, take a quiz, and then do homework for it. I learned it, but felt kind of tiring by the end.

He posts unclear coding assignments with little notice, doesn't go over the assignments, most grades weren't in until the day before grades were due

Cool guy, made software engineering easy. Has a good sense of humor and is accessible and understanding. Don't focus on getting an A, just focus on understanding the material.

Comment:
The class material itself is very interesting and Dr. Fenwick does a pretty good job of explaining stuff. His assignments, on the other hand, are terrible. Very vague instructions and the assignments were not graded until the last week of the semester. He usually only gives a couple days for coding assignments, sometimes less than 24 hours.

He gives short-notice assignments at random, then doesn't grade them until the end of the semester. Pop quizzes are brutal but count for almost nothing after the curve. He once showed up 10 minutes late for a test and neither apologized nor gave us extra time, but he did curve generously. Overall, not a bad guy and will help you if you need it.

Fenwick is really nice and understanding. I had trouble understanding his lectures sometimes and I had to learn quite a bit outside of class, but he really wants you to do well.

Wonderful teacher. If you're thinking about taking Dr. Fenwick for freshman honors seminar, go for it.

Comment:
Kind of a boring class, but I'm sure it's because this is not really my thing. He is not very concise with his direction and if you like to get your homework out of the way early, he usually doesn't post the material until later in the week and it is usually due Sunday. That being said, he seems very nice and a pretty fair grader.

Please only take this class if you need it for gen.ed. It starts off easy -- making a blog today, uploading a Google Doc tomorrow -- but towards the end of the semester, it's really difficult and boring. He doesn't really help you, either -- there's an online forum where students help each other. Grad student grades all the work. I'm not loving it.

This teacher never held a single class all semester except for the first day. He doesn't teach anything and expects you to learn it on your own and then have quizzes on the material. This shouldn't have been considered an introductory course to computer applications. Do NOT take!!

Might be able to pull off teaching 1440, but needs to say away from classes that require knowledge in computer science.

A great Professor, He is helpful and friendly. He makes class fun, and he is very willing to help anyone who needs it after class. I didn't need much help though, he explains things very matter of factly. Fun and Helpfull.

Very easy class and lab too, almost never took the entire time for labs, infact if you were in there more than an hour then you were having problems. Tests straight from the notes, quizzes were easy too. Very easy class

The semester project was a waste of time. First he starts out all gung-ho on XP, and then doesn't follow through. We got no feedback about tests, no feedback about the project. The entire class was dedicated to one of his graduate student's thesis.
