Comment:

Idk what these negative comments are, Dr Smithers M140 class was one of the easiest classes i've taken so far. Only 2 tests, midterm and final with one or two important essays. Weekly online hw, watch the video & write some P about it. I'm gonna take her again for M170 cuz shes super easy and u don't have to pay too much attention to the class.

Comment:

Worst professor I've ever had. She didn't even show up for the final (the rest of us did though) she just shows you documentaries some of which don't pertain the the material that is supposed to be covered in the course. You have to keep buying documentaries on amazon prime to write papers on and she does not clarify any questions you have.

She was one of the absolute worst teachers Ive ever had. She cancelled class around half the time. She assigned homework on things that she didnt even teach in class, or stuff that didnt even make any sense. At least at the end of the semester, if youre close to an A, dont expect her to round up because she wont, even if you ask.

Im torn about what I think of this professor: Shes definitely kind hearted and is knowledgeable about the subject, but I found her to be rather negligent and unorganized. She throws on more documentaries than she does lecture, on top of the documentary hw. If you message her with questions, she either wont answer or shell be unclear.

Comment:

Professor Smithers cares about her students. Her class is easy as long as you watch the documentaries and do the corresponding 2-3 paragraph assignments for them. She lectures and/or picks a film to watch every class. She does a midterm and final review where you get all the answers, and both the midterm and final have a 1 page paper single spaced.

At first I had no idea what she was teaching us. Then it got easier because her lectures became very interesting. She gives you the answers to the midterms and finals all you have to do is record or take pictures with your phone and memorize them. Also have 2 essays which are graded fairly as long as you answer the prompt. Lots of documentaries too

I took her for HIST M140 and she was great. She does lecture some so if you don't like that... well than why are you looking at taking a history class? She also throws documentaries on a lot which makes the class easy. She is kind and understanding.

Comment:

Though Leslie was a tough grader on the essays, her assignments were very easy. The lectures were a bit tough to follow so make sure you're actively taking notes or recording. She plays a lot of videos and movies which I found helpful. Make sure to pay attention and you'll be fine. She's really nice and funny if you get to know her!

Leslie clearly knows her subject. Her class is lecture heavy but that being said you're only graded on eleven things. 9 documentary assignments which she assigns at the very beginning which are due at the end. Then the midterm and final. She's a fair grader and attendance counts towards your grade.

Comment:

Dr. Smithers is truly a great history professor. She knows the material well and gives some really amazing lectures. A few things to be aware of. There are very few assignments meaning you better do well or its hard to come back from a low grade. She also politicizes the class by discussing her very anti-Trump view which can be annoying.

She's very lame and boring, shows no enthusiasm at all while lecturing, however she gives you a study guide in which you write the question she tells you that'll be on the test.A student has to answer it, if no one does, then you're on your own for that ques. Her tests consist on multiple choice and an essay, so be sure to read and study well b4.

Ok so I had to drop her class after the midterm. She rushes through material, talks strange (monotone), and is very off topic. She only gives a midterm, paper, and final. If you fail a midterm or final, there is no way to come back. I get all A's in other history classes.

Dr. Smither's is an amazing professor. She has incredible knowledge of the civil war, and all Southern U.S. History subjects. You need to put in the work to studying for her tests and I guarantee you will get an A. Ask her questions and take advantage of her vast knowledge. I would 100 percent take her again.

A strange person. Brings personal life to class. Very irritated most of the time. Does NOT grade FAIRLY. Some students work much harder than others. Has CLASS FAVORITE. Lectures are all about fashion and sex, nothing to do with book. Writing assignments are ridiculously LONG and HARD. Would NOT recommend her to anyone, grateful its over!

Her lectures are long & boring and she takes attendance. Gives two assignments, a midterm, and a final. She tells you THE EXACT questions on both the tests so its a pretty easy class.

This class is pretty easy, she lectures about the subject, then usually the next time she will show some type of documetery. For the Mid-term and Final she tells you every question that is going to be on it as well as the short answers so you dont really need to take notes.

Took the summer course the 8 week one! lets you out early every time s cool teacher shes interested in history! funny at times and lectures tend to get boring but overall recommend she was a fair and great teacher!

My 1st college class. I took her world history 2 class over the summer and wasn't very hard,intimidating at first. Midterm a final and 2 writing assignments that are lengthy but do able. She gives you the questions to test word for word before both exams, lectures r boring. She lets class out early every time. Hard to get an A but I recommend!!
