Prof. Insana gives a lot of reading assignments and short written responses/quizzes to go along with them. Still, she doesn't ask too much of her students and is available to offer help when needed. Stay ahead on your work; Due dates for assignments change often, sometimes when you don't expect it.

Comment:

Lina loves what she teaches and it really shows. Her lectures are informative and there are no quizzes, just a lot of homework. Her homework is never difficult, as long as you do it and go to class you will get an A.

Comment:

This is not a language class, it is a cultural class which means it is not as interesting unless you are part Italian. Thinking it would be an "easy" A, I didn't do any of the readings and it made the class harder to understand but I still got a B since there are only 4 quizzes, the final, and 1 small project. Take this class if you like Italian.

I love Prof Insana! She gets to know her students, and is very caring. Get ready to take notes in her class for the final. Her lectures can be long and winding, but overall interesting. The ten page paper can seem intimidating, but it's not bad. Do try and take her for an awesome experience.

Comment:

I loved this italian film class! Very interesting and you get to watch classic movies like Rocky and the Godfather. It was fun and insightful to analyze all the details in the movie, and the class themes were interesting too. Tests were fair, she grades fairly, and she seems like a really nice, caring person. You should take this class!

Lectures always felt a little rushed and we were always behind on the syllabus but I would definitely recommend Prof. Insana. The only negative thing I have to say is that papers and exams took over a month to grade (exams were essay and short answer so it is understandable to a degree)

Professor Insana is very intelligent, but her lectures were very boring. There were 3 tests, each of which were ok, but the book and lectures were so terrible I completely lost interest. Discussion groups were pointless. She's prob a much better teacher for a language speaking class, but the culture was very boring.

Prof Insana is one of the best professors at the university! She is incredibly knowledgeable in her field and leads very interesting discussions. The readings take time, but the material is always compelling. I feel like I learned a lot in this class, and that she pushed me to dig deeper into my own understandings of the text.

Very disorganized & has no sense of time. Makes us do busywork like going to track down obscure movies. Relies too much on breaking class into discussion groups, it's obvious we're all in it b/c it's required for the minor

Insana is one of the nicest profs at the university, and she really has a passion for what she is teaching that comes accross in the classroom. Makes me wish I took more Italian classes so I could sign up with her again.

Sooo disorganized - had a couple meetings with her outside of class: she was 20 min late to one and completely forgot and didn't show for the other. Also makes you buy books for her classes then never gets to them so you waste money.

Lina is a great teacher. Her Italian is flawless, which I can't say about other Italian teachers I have had. Very little busywork. Very clear explanations. And she's nice.
