This professor has issues with staying on topic. In Islamic politics you will spend 70% of class trashing the United States after he claims you think the US is better?! Very bad experience for me and my fellow classmates.

You only get graded on a midterm, final, attendance, and a 10 min presentation. As long as you do your readings and go to class, it's pretty straight forward.

Doctor Tamadonfar is by far one of the most interesting professors I have taken. He is strict but reasonable. There are several books you have to get for this course but several of them can be rented from the library. There is only attendance, a midterm, and a final that will be graded(no extra cred). So just show up and listen; you'll be fine.

So far he's alright. Knowledgable? yes. Involving and fun lectures? no. Mandatory attendance? yes. Laptop? better sit in the front row or he'll waste everyones time getting you to move there. Lectures have next to nothing to do with what you read, outside of some vague concepts. Tests based on the reading and theres 2 of them. no other assignments

The idea that he hates Israel, that others here have made, is ludicrous. Gets a rep as being tough bc he talks himself up, but is all bark no bite. Do your reading, show up, & listen and you'll be fine. He cares about the material & his personal experience is invaluable. Can go off topic quite a bit, which is interesting, but not really helpful.

Worst professor I've ever had! Spends at minimum 15-30 min of every class talking about how much he hates Israel. Will cut you off if he doesn't like your point of view or challenge his so called "facts". He just rants and raves all class about his views on current events and how much he hates Israel, never about the actual class or its content.

He's extremely jaded, draws out lectures that are convoluted and borderline nonsensical, he doesn't encourage participation, and often times he gives misinformation or statements are just plain not true. I had high hopes for this class because I was told he would be non-biased but that wasn't the case. After this course I plan on avoiding him

I've taken many of his classes, it's challenging but I have learned so much from him! The class structure takes some getting used to, since he encourages his students to think analytically, but so worth it! He changed the way I view politics.

If you are that kid who got b's and c's in high school because you sucked at tedious homework or would forget about a paper, but aced your tests easily then he is your guy. Real smart and fair. One of the best. His class consists usually of 3 in-class exams; he grades tough so answer each part of each question. No paper! Skim the reading.

Professor Tamadonfar is very intelligent and this is reflected in his grading. He assigns no hw just 2-3 tests. However much of what he goes over in lecture is not on the actual written test, so you must read. However, a lot of the reading material doesn't correlate to the test. Attendance is mandatory and he's very very strict about it.

I personally love him. I switched into his class this semester because I just love his classes so much, this is my third one with him. He can be pretty rough if you slack. You might not love all his ideas. Take good notes, connect them to the reading, ask good questions, go to his office hours. It's not all that much to ask for 400-level classes.

Comment:
Smart man, but very pretentious. Half the class is spent on material on the subject and the other half is spent on him preaching his political philosophy. I was interested by his perspective, however, does not have an unbiased teaching style that allows for critical thought. VERY hostile to any challenge to his opinions. Stereotypical professor.

Truly amazing professor. Has an immense amount of knowledge regarding political science and isn't afraid to tackle controversial issues. Really wants his students to succeed and all you have to do is take good notes and make sure to read all of the assigned readings to do so. One of the best professors at UNLV, hands down.

Professor Tamadonfar is a great professor if you are interested in political science. If you could not care less about politics, then you will not find this class enjoyable. Exams based on lecture material and book. YOU MUST READ. Very knowledgable and doesn't shy away from students expressing their opinions or him expressing his own.

Tamadonfar, is VERY knowledgable in his field. Yet, he knows how to convey information about the Middle East in a very understandable, clear cut manner. Reading for his class is a must, as the two tests he has are based primarily off the readings/lectures. He is a very fair grader, and listens to students opinions. Attendance is mandatory.

For this class, you have to do the reading. For most of his classes - eh. He grades on improvement. Show him you care about your grades and he's more lenient. Does go off on rants, but very knowledgable. Just take VERY clear notes. Write down everything he says and you'll get an A. Takes roll every day. You can miss two or three classes & be fine.

Attendance is mandatory (role call). DO THE READINGS* long lectures*, NO power points. get a study buddy. he is intimidating, makes you feel ignorant when asking for help. you have to work really hard to earn a good grade. Interesting topic. He is smart. midterm and final. take good clear notes. grades on improvement. don't miss class or be late.

He's a good professor. Its International Law, so it's not an easy class. Pay attention, take good notes, read, participate in class a decent amount and you'll be fine. Don't just memorize the law, be able to point out instances when it was used. 2 tests, a group case presentation, participation/attendance were the factors of our grade.
