Comment:

Excellent when teaching his area of expertise: early American, Native American. I have taken him for 3 classes and have made 2 As and 1 B. His class is not as hard as it seems (I knew some people who dropped the class after reading the syllabus). Grades generously on essays if you include main points from his lectures so go to class & sit in front.

I had Dr. McConnell for HY 101. He was very knowledgeable about the subject within the text. Though he wore the same button up for every class, he seemed to wash it.He was understanding and I only had to write one paper so I am satisfied with the class.

He was soo boring. I had never fallen asleep in class until i had him. However, his test are really easy, i never went to class and made high B's on all of them. But be prepared to be bored out of your mind

This was one of the best history classes I've ever had! He is so knowledgable, and if you make an effort to be a serious student, he is very helpful and patient. I can listen to him all day and not get bored, especially when he is talking about Native Americans. His passion for the topic really comes through. An A from him is worth two elsewhere.

Dr. McConnel has to be one of the coolest professors at UAB. His tests consists of 2 essay questions, and as long as you seem like you know what you're talking about then there is no way you shouldn't get at least a B in there. Lectures are pretty hilarious too.

He is a very funny man. We didn't write any papers. I didn't read any of the 3 books and I still finished with an A in the class. All of the tests were essays, so if you acted like you knew what you were doing, you got a good grade.

I made a "C" on his first test. I am a serious student so I went to talk to him about it. He did not help me. I ended up with a "C" in the class. He sounded like he had an anger problem too.
