Great Teacher. Lets you write creative pieces for your papers. But there are so many heavy conversations in this class that they start to lose their weight. WORTH IT.

Very simple class. His tangents are always entertaining. If your paper isn't at least a B he lets you rewrite it for a better grade. Most of the class is watching Shakespeare.

Schwartz has tons of great stories; this man has lived a full life. He doesn't police you to make sure you do the reading, but the assigned books are actually good so you might as well read them. Fair grader with the 3 essays you have to do during the semester. He's a really great guy, and probably the best choice for a lit requirement.

Murray Schwartz is a remarkable professor with a clear passion for the seminars he teaches. All the books are very interesting. Also, he supplements the lectures with current events articles and movies. Murray assigns two short papers and a final essay. He's a fair grader and is willing to give feedback on drafts. i would highly recommend him.

I took his Lit/Xtreme Sit, and it became a Holocaust history class, which was very interesting because I never studied it so indepth b4. Hes nice, but talks alot. It doesnt seem he likes when kids make comments, perferring to hear himself talk. I wish it was more of a Eng class rather than a hist class wher we listen 2 him talk 4 an hour & 45 mins

Murray is my favorite teacher. His class covers all the precursors, constants and reprocussions of an extreme situation, more in depth than you'll ever hear from another teacher. While you may exit each class more depressed than you've ever been because of the morbid subject matter, you'll really appreciate all the knowledge you gained.

Professor Schwartz was an incredible teacher. I was in his literature of extreme situations class and I have never felt so impressed or engaged by a teacher's lectures. He let me write a short story instead of a final paper and he helpedme alot. You can talk about anything in his class. He is a must for emerson students.

The first two introductory lectures were boring, but necessary. Once you start reading the novels, the class can be fun, but only if you have done your reading. Be ready to have nightmares as this class can take a toll, especially after watching all those horrifying AND TRUE videos. I kept all my books for this course, highly recommended. He is also extremely friendly and understanding.

Murray is a professor who really seems to care about both his subject and his students. There weren't many assignments, but that allowed me to take more time to really read and think about the literature, which seemed to be the point.

Prof. Schwarz is one of the smartest and well-educated professors at Emerson. Despite what others might say, he is very interesting and amazingly knowledgeable. His awkward pauses are done on purpose, to see peoples' reactions to it. If you want to meet a Prof. that makes you feel like you’re at an Ivy League school, take one of his classes.
