Comment:

Dr. Barthe bases what every student should know off of the few students in the class that excel in French. She isn't that helpful when you ask a question, she's condescending towards you when you don't know an answer. She knows French very well though.

she speaks french the entire class & although overwhelming at first, the hand gestures help & it's easy to get the hang of. you need the textbook, & you dont need to show up to class but you should. only warning: she provides the syllabus at the beginning of the year and wont warn you when a composition or test is coming up. however, easy A imo

Ms. Barthe is a great professor, who will be there for you if you are struggling in her class. Make sure you go to class whenever you can because you will miss a lot if you miss a class.

Comment:

Pascale is an amazing professor. She is from France, so she is a professional at the subject. She's extremely sweet, but she does not tolerate laziness. The tests are simple if you study, but it depends on how well you understand the language. The final is difficult, but she helps you through it.

It is tough to learn from a professor who did not learn French the same way you did. Yes she knows her stuff but she expects you to know way more than you actually do just because she is fluent in the language. I have not learned anything this semester because she is sarcastic and not willing to help you at all. Also takes hours to do the homework.

Had Mme. Barthe for two semesters when I first came to school at UNCW. Her class was an easy transition from High School French but she does expect you to know quite a bit beforehand. Overall an easy class, just don't expect an easy A. She grades tests easily but can be a bit harsh on the papers.

She is a little tough because she expects students to be fluent and barely allows questions to be asked in english for clarification. Does give good feedback on papers but expects you to know everything for the exams and can be harsher on some over others. There are too many oral prompts to prepare for.

Very good teacher. Tests are graded easily. Online homework is easy and is graded for completion. She puts pressure on you to learn the material in class but it's for the best. Take French!

I have had Dr. Barthe for many courses over the years and she is a good professor whose teaching methods thrive in classes where there is an even exchange of ideas between herself and the students. She will not force you to learn, and will show no sympathy when you fail if the fault is yours. But if you show interest and effort, you'll do great!

Prof. Barthe is a good teacher, she explains things very thoroughly but she expects the class to know a lot beforehand. she gives HW every week and a few tests, if you go to class, the tests are pretty easy, she's a bit strict with her attendance and doesnt give make up tests

Madame Barthe is a great professor. Her french is VERY easy to understand. Her courses are always very well-organized. She's always available to help. Her tests aren't too difficult as long as you review the material she covered in class...

Very nice, expects you to know a lot prior to the class. Very informative, but attendance is a must! Three papers, 4 tests, and an oral exam at the end of the semester. Doesn't force you to do anything, you must remember to turn everything in... get an agenda! I would reccomend her if you have a good background in the language.

This lady is so sexy! Great teacher, but she won't force you to learn. If she can see that you're putting-in effort but still not understanding the material, she'll gladly take time to help outside of class. Take your compositions to her early and let her read over them before the due date--it will increase your score by a full letter grade.

Barthe is a great professor. I really like the class. She has an odd sense of humor, so the class is fun. She is very willing to help if you make an effort and go to her for help. I made a B on my first composition, went to her for help on the second one, and made an A. The class is not completely in French so it's not overwhelming.

Her tests are very easy if you study as you go along. I never had to cram for one of her tests. The compositions aren't that bad. I got a B on all of them. She is definately a great professor to take. I was SOOO scared on the first day of class because she started to speak only in French. She convinced me not to drop her class. She's awesome.

Proffesor Barthe has a pretty good personality. She's understanding and will work with you in any way she can, but YOU have to be the one to ask her for help, she won't reach out to you. Her class is sort of hard (I've had four years of French and I've been making Bs). But if you're seriously going to try, then take her class.
