I love Dr, Backsheider. She is a cute little woman with a great sense of humor. She comes across as intimidating, but she really cares about her students and wants them to learn. She calls on people randomly, so make sure you read and stay on top of things. She is understanding, so if you are confused or need extra time on an assignment talk to her

Hard? YES. Why? She challenges students to expand their knowledge and think in new ways. This is a GREAT thing! She is exceptionally reasonable and willing to work with you, but will not give you the answers, instead, she will encourage you to find your own answers. Be responsible and respectful and you will benefit tremendously!

Auburn University is lucky to have this woman as part of their staff. She requires a lot of critical thinking, but loves class discussions that are entertaining as well as informational. She will go out of her way to make sure you can succeed, as long as you put forth effort on your end.

Dr. Backscheider is very hard. That having been said, she is totally awesome and her class is worth it. Take her and put forth the required effort and you will be glad you did! Her Romance class was probably my favorite class ever at Auburn

I enjoyed going to Dr. B's class. She is kind and has a great sense of humor for a lady her age. Ha. I mean I threw a banana at her once in class and she thought it was hilarious. Seriously though. She knows her stuff. Her teaching style does lean away from the loose interprative classes her counterparts teach. However there are definate benefits to the structures of her classes. Take her class. Find out.

Dr. Backsheider does expect a lot from her students, and her class is challenging and difficult at times.. But in my opinion she is an excellent and thought provoking professor. She knows her stuff, and she's intimidating at times. I found her to be very helpful and encouraging in her office hours. Take her if you're willing to work hard.

Here's a question: why would you suppose you might take a theory course? Perhaps to learn about the theory? Well, surprise of surprises, you will learn very little theory under her. She enjoys spending most of the classtime degrading her students (their intelligence, etc.) and refusing to explore new ideas raised by said students. Advice: drop.

Most of the projects (debates, etc) are pointless and waste time. I rated her as "hard" because she doesn't allow interpretation; she focuses on the answer she feels is correct. Inconsistent is the word of the day for her. Avoid her at all costs.
