He is a nice teacher. But the way he talks it seems like he should have been in philosophy, literature, acting, art... something else other than English.

His class seemed hard at first but got easier. You need to keep up with the readings for quizzes; he gives alot to read. He seems unorganized, and posts stuff late and didn't respond to emails much. He is willing to help you with the subject if you want to talk to him after class, try to find some common ground

I took this class honors, and it wasn't too bad. We had to write a small paper every week, though, and there were two big papers. Not too difficult unless you don't like writing.

Mr. Sweet obviously loves to teach literature and is very knowledgable on the subject - however he DOES NOT stay on task. He is very unorganized. He does not upload required documents needed for studying until last minute. I.E. he uploaded the final study guide 2 days before the final. So much for studying. Expect to read >100 pgs per week.

If you like the band RUSH take him. He is obsessed with RUSH to the point that it became annoying. Sometimes in class we would just discuss RUSH. He takes forever grading papers and knows what he wants. So once you figure out what he wants its easy to get 10/10 on the papers

this guy is extremely lazy...he takes forever grading papers and when he does, he doesnt read them or believe in what you do say. The two big papers are ones he doesnt care about and disagrees with whatever you say, forcing you into a bad grade. Avoid this teacher

Professor Sweet was great at lecturing and getting his point across in class. But he is VERY slow about grading everything...Just beware if you want feedback on the papers, you have to go to his office if you want any, and he is only part time so you have to work around his schedule, which is BUSY...Other wise good Professor

didn't give enough info to write good papers, then took took long to "grade them"- he never actually "graded" the papers to help improve writing, he just gave a grade for completeness because he ran out of time. he takes way too long to get anything done.he forgot there was a final exam and put it on us VERY last minute. hated the class

Our reading assignments were often very lengthy and we were given a short amount of time to read them. Although, I have to say he was very fair when it came to grading. You will get the grade for the amount of effort you put into your work. If you love to read and have a lot of time to do so, I would recommend this class, if not take someone else!

I hate english, I got Cs on both freshman comp classes. However, this guy got me to like english and I enjoy going to his class. Yes, he is hard, but he teaches so well that if you go to class everyday, everything he assigns you will be easy to you and you will at least pull a B. Thus, I highly recommend this guy, cuz you actually learn something!

Horribly ****ed. Constant bagering of late students. Covers way to much material. Because of this there is no time to understand the material.

Raven is perhaps one of the best professors I have ever had. I actually looked forward to going to this class each day! He is incredibly smart and is willing and always available to help you with anything at all, whether it's class-related or not! This cool "cat" loves what he teaches and brings a chill yet focused attitude into his classroom.

He's a great teacher who knows a lot and really works to help you understand the context (historical and otherwise)of what you're reading. He's a little disorganized. You have to read close to do well on his quizzes and tests. But he is very approachable and willing to help.

Everytime I had enrolled in 1020, I either got an idiot, or a Nazi. Mr. Sweet enjoyed his work, enjoyed reading our work, and tried to get the most out of us that he could. I got an A and would recommend him highly, if he has not already finished up his doctorate and moved on to bigger and better things.
