Comment:
Too many expect blow-offs, rote memorization and generalized "feeling" discussions in psych classes (unrealistic expectations). No place for this in higher-leveled courses! That isn't Dr. Ray's problem. Dr. Narveson prepares students for the real world. Those not cut out for a Ph.D. save $ and time through feedback and poor marks from Dr. Ray.

Gave vague feedback that was impossible to integrate. He constantly gave me failing scores on discussion and when I reposted, I often would not hear from him. Most difficult and frustrating professor I have ever had at the graduate level.

Dr. Narveson's feedback is difficult to integrate and incredibly vague. He does not use a rubric, so you are always unsure of where you need to improve.

Dr. Narveson was impossible to please. He graded extremely hard, and did not give proper feedback. I started the class with 23 other students, and when I withdrew at week 5, there was myself and only 1 other student. Do yourself a favor and NEVER use this professor.

Dr. Ray was the worst teacher that I have EVER had in my entire post-secondary school career (6 years worth). He is VERY unclear about what he wants from you and even whenever you try to re-do assignments, nothing ever meets his expectations. DO NOT take this course with him as the instructor because you won't do well. What a waste of time & money.

Comment:
Dr. Narveson is a very smart person but makes a poor instructor. He grades on a level impossible to achieve even in a doctoral session. Many dropped his course which seems to be a trend. Students who work will not likely be able to meet the requirements of this instructor.

Professor gave lots of negative feedback never telling student how to improve but only that they weren't doing the assignments correctly. Phone sessions yielded similar results with raised hope and confidence followed by a failing grade. 28 students started class, when I withdrew in week 5 only 12 remained. Who knows how many made it to the end.

Dr. Narveson was very helpful and always present in the courseroom. In discussions, he wanted us to think about the role of cognitive learning in online course design. He is writing focus and a tough grader who offers constructive feedback. Frankly, if you are a master or doctoral learner, you should know how to write. I enjoyed the him.

I wouldn't mind blunt profs if they give insightful feedback. Unfortunately, Ray had nothing specific or substantive to say, and he'd only make harsh, blanket comments (e.g., "This is terrible")--often in public. How does that help anyone? Also, he was into correcting grammar--which would have been fine, had his own grammatical skills been solid...

Comment:
Irritatingly negative towards postings. What he won't tell you until mid-quarter is that he uses Bloom's taxonomy for grading papers. View this class as a writing class, not a psychology class. Do not expect positive feedback.
