Comment:

Prof. Zemp is a good option for Music Appreciation. Honestly, I really struggled in the class. I missed a few deadlines which he was nice enough to let me retake. Fair grader, minimum work load. Very good at communication with students and produces very informative lectures. Read the book, turn things in on time, easy A. Professor Zemp 9/10.

Comment:

This class was an emotional headache for me and he was a scary teacher. I really didn't need to deal with his personality. As someone who always had a positive experience with piano instructors, this was beyond a disappointment. When the course ended, I was happy to be done with seeing him. Negative experience here. He is a good pianist.

He gives an insane amount of work and thinks his students are all scholars of music and music history. There are discussions, essays, multiple choice tests, and listening exercises each week. Luckily everything was due on Wednesdays and it is possible to knock it all out in one sitting. Just don't take him.

I'm a cello performance major and have zemp both semester for my freshman year. I love his quirkyness and has a different sense of humor. i find the class to be very easy. You just play through the text book and teach yourself. Very small and laid back class. tests are easy.
