His lectures are very enlightening, and so are his homework assignments. The readings, plus the homework questions contribute greatly to your knowledge of the subject.

I've hated History classes since I was born, but Professor Smith changed that. You take notes on the most important part of the chapters and aren't constantly quizzed on it; however, we answer questions based off the readings which really opens up your understanding of history in an efficient way. Not-to-mention he has a very friendly demeanor.

Professor Smith is a very kind and down to earth person. He grades your essay and projects pretty hard though so make sure to ask him for feedback and do the best you can on those to get an A in the class. The class had a laid back atmosphere and I thought it was pretty enjoyable. You'll have to work somewhat harder for an A but I recommend him!

Zoom class. Grade relies heavily on two book analysis papers and the two term papers. Tough grader and unfortunately doesn't leave a lot of feedback other than a quick general comment on the paper's content. Great lecturer and assigned interesting readings.

Overall, Sean Smith is a great professor. His workload is light and doable and he flexible when it comes to any assignments as long as you remind him ahead of time. Hearing his insight into history is pretty interesting to say the least. To the point that I took another class of his, History 474, and enjoy that just as much.

He can be intimidating at first but is very helpful and understanding. I did one assignment completely wrong and asked to redo it but he just graded the original and gave me full credit. There is a lot of reading, but it's not hard and he uses a free textbook and pdfs. Most weeks had lecture one day and a short and easy group assignment the next.

Professor Smith is a really funny guy. Although his essays require a lot of work and analysis, I enjoyed his class overall. Probably the best History teacher I've ever had. He gives a different perspective on History as a whole. It definitely was not an easy A but if you put in some kind of effort you will do good.

Quite hard to get an A in the class if that's what you're striving for. Essays HAVE to be analytical, otherwise you won't get an A. Gave more than my best effort on so many essays, he even gave the exact same feedback on 2 of them cause they needed to be ANALYTICAL. Lecture wise he does go off track sometimes, but he is a hilarious professor.

Smith makes class super fun and he's really friendly and helpful! Group work is easy and there's only a few activities, a midterm essay, and a final essay. Chapter notes due for midterm and final but just use the in class lecture notes to turn in. If you don't want to go to class just read the book at home, he provides it free.

EASIEST class ever. He does a lot of group work, provides the textbook, and assigns easy homework. We had no multiple-choice tests all we did were essays. or the most part, I don't like doing essays but these essays were so easy. I also dislike History and he taught it in a "non-boring" way. doesn't take role but assign group work so you should go

This class was definitely not easy, especially for a lower division class. Be prepared for a lot of reading, However, there are no tests or quizzes just papers and in-class group assignments which were fairly easy. Midterm and final papers are not easy so but I was able to get an A but utilizing all of his days for office hours. Hard to get an A

Amazing lecturer but, gives lots of mini papers. Even with "decent" writing skills, I found it difficult to get even a B on the midterm/final papers. He has a specific kind of writing he likes to see but includes no rubric. If you want an easy A or you hate writing, this isn't the class for you. To get an A, you need to do A LOT of work.

The lecture is chill. He talks about the main ideas that he expects to be in your papers but does like to rant. He has a good sense of humor. If you complete the readings and do your papers (which isn't many), you can pass.

Sean is not the best professor but hes a cool guy. And super funny too if you have a dark sense of humor. I paid attention the first few weeks but ended up watching Netflix the rest of the semester. Group work is usually once a week but its easy. Midterm and final, both are essays and he gives tons of time and good feedback.

This professor doesn't help future teachers at all, the class is mostly made for history majors. If you are a liberal studies major I would seriously suggest taking another professor. He is a chill guy but not effective. The course is solely based on lectures and readings so you will need to attend class because he doesn't post powerpoints online.

I have never dreaded going to class more than this one, his lectures were so boring and he never used powerpoints, so he was extremely hard to follow for taking notes. Grades were only based on 10 pt weekly reading assignments (that were far too long) and three papers that he grades extremely hard and unfair. He has absolutely no grading criteria.
