Comment:

Very helpful professor, but unclear at times. I had to work for the grade I received in class when I went in thinking that it would be an easy GE. She's more than willing to help and has open office hours and opportunities for revision, but she is a very tough grader and expects the most out of you. Get ready to work, but hard work pays off.

Comment:

This class, Language and Social Interaction, was not at all what it seemed to be. It became a speech and debate class with over half of the coursework centered around our debates. She's a tough grader but gives the option to edit and revise your work. I didn't take away anything from this class and wouldn't recommend it to anyone as an elective.

comm3629 was absolutely not what i thought it would be... a speech and debate class. wasn't too thrilled about this, especially as dr. kline is a tough grader and the structure of debate makes little sense from her lectures. however, she always gives the opportunity to make up points, which is nice.

Dr. Kline is awesome. I got an A in her class and I am taking another with her! She is definitely tough - but it's college get used to it! If you are a Comm major she will be inspiring to you! She really knows what she is talking about and is VERY energetic. If you don't like to work for your grade, or don't like comm... pick another course folks.

This woman contradicts herself left and right. For a Doctor in communications she seems to lack the ability to communicate clearly and with a matter of consistency. I've gone in for help on more than several occasions for writing papers and each time she gives advice that completely contradicts her prior critiques.

She is a DR. in communication and is by no means a good communicator! She is not clear in her expectations about projects and papers, completely unorganized! Study guides for tests were enormous and not helpful. Exams are hard. She curves. TONS of reading. I felt stressed constantly in this class because I didn't feel like I understood expectations

She's truly a marvelous professor. I got an A, but it is difficult. Homework is way easy, but tests are hard. Do the study guide, read all the chapters, and never miss class. AND, you MUST study the handouts. The essays for sure will come from these as will some others questions. I had no interest in org comm before, but she made me love it!

Very unorganized teaching style. I was lost most of the second half of the quarter. Tons of reading and notes/lecture notes/powerpoints. Tests are hard. She grades harsh on papers too. Would never recommend this instructor because of how unorganized she is... made me feel very overwhelmed.

She's very into the topic and uses lots of examples to make sure you understand, papers are easy, tests are difficult but if you really study the notes that the ta posts the tests aren't so bad, very willing to meet if you need help and gives extra class time to discuse any questions you have concerning assignments

She is so into this class and is very clear and uses lots of examples. Readings not that important, but interesting. Short papers are VERY easy just go by the notes she gives you, and final paper not as hard as it seems at first. Take this class, she is a very good teacher and really gets you into it

Susan Kline is a wonderful person and instructor. She is one of the remaining bastion of learned professors who are in it for the love of the profession.
