I didn't really want to take his theater class at first. I knew nothing about plays or the secret meanings behind the things play writes would put in their plays. At the end of his class I knew a lot more an enjoyed it very much. It was a smaller class (45 students) and by 6 weeks in he knew everyones name. Pretty easy class if you show up!

I love Terry. He's one of my favorite profs at WSU. He has a lot of wisdom and is willing to help you if you go and ask. He has completely changed my thoughts on theat. LOVE THIS GUY!

Took both directing classes from Terry. Has ample directing knowledge, communicates guidelines of assignments but offers no examples. During critiques he then makes it clear which directors met his unclear expectations. Plays favorites; these favorites never get bad critiques. Possible to be a non-favorite and get an A, but unlikely.

Terry was everything a professor should be, and more. He was realistic, deep thinking, and wanted your honesty. His "favorites" were so because they had been in his classes before and could stand out from the cookie-cutter crowd. If you ever want to be a "favorite", all you have to do is get to know him. PS: this class had a LOT of reading!

I frickin love terry! he is an amazin director. yes he does play favorites but in all honesty which director doesn't. as a director i do sometimes. you know who works well with you and will get the job. terry is frickin awesome! (i'm not even a terry fav. either)

Hands down my favourite class ever. This guy makes you think, but makes it fun. I almost switched my major to theater just because of him! seriously, this class should be a requirement for all students. you will learn so much, and i guarentee you'll enjoy it!

I really enjoyed his class! Just go to class and you will enjoy it! He does have a tendency to not back down from his ideas, but overall i really liked him. GO TO CLASS AND YOU WILL PASS!

Terry has a tendency to play favorites and to never Back down from his own ideas. He teaches the same classes over and over every semester with no diversion. He loves himself so much that the textbook is his own publication. Work on Diversion!

Terry is a genius. If you are dedicated then you will learn so much from him. He knows his craft well and I trust his methods, both with teaching and directing. He will throw you right into directing but he is always available if you need help.

Comment:

Professor Converse is a brilliant director, but when it comes to teaching the subject, he is far from great. I found myself completely cut loose with very little actual instruction (any learning you do with Terry comes from harsh critiques).
