Took him for SPAN3305 & SPAN3319. His classes aren't an easy A but you'll definitely learn. It's true that you should expect to be called on because he likes to gauge how well the students know the material. He can be very funny and very nice but I can understand that some people don't like being joked with in certain ways. Overall he's pretty good

If you're planning on majoring in Spanish, Dr. Elliot will get you ready for SPAN 3305, which is really hard. This is a good foundation for your Spanish courses. His notes on the board and his powerpoints are very well organized. He gives review tests, so there are no surprises on the test. Is not hard to get an A in his class, but is not free.

Elliott is very passionate about teaching but ill have to admit that he does make it more difficult than other professors would, if you want an easy A DONT TAKE him! but if you want to learn and really earn your grade then he is the perfect instructor...I didn't hate his class but it sure did bring me a lot of stress and headaches

Dr. Elliott is a great professor! He gives a solid overview of Linguistics, and the tests are not hard. He gives you a review with everything that will be on the test. If you don't go to lecture, then tests will be very hard. As long as you pay attention in class and do the homework (the reading isn't really that important), you'll be fine.

Dr. Elliot is a phenomenal professor! I have learned so much in his class, and yes his class is super intense! A lot harder than my sciences courses, but you do learn a lot. At the end I would hope people go to school to learn and not to get an easy A. His class is definitely not an easy A. Attendance is mandatory, it will hurt your grade.

Outstanding professor. The class was a hybrid of class and online. The format made palatable material that might have otherwise been very difficult.

I took him for 3303 and 3314 and would definitely recommend if you want to learn. Be prepared to be called on in class daily. He was sometimes unclear about what would be on tests. If there's a problem with one of your grades SEE HIM IN PERSON OR IT WILL NOT BE CHANGED.

In his conversation course you will have to interview 3 NATIVE Spanish speakers & do a debate/presentation at the end. If you drop this class then you should change your major/minor, because this course is EASY if you do the work. He even covers grammar concepts which will help you in SPAN 3314.

This professor does not hand out A's, but if you work hard and show up to class you can earn an A. He covers a lot of grammar and will have you prepared for SPAN 3319. He uses a lot of repetition to drill the grammar rules into your head. There are two essays (1st draft/Final draft) to do for this class. Keep in mind he has a PhD in Linguistics.

This guy is head of the Spanish department so that was my first clue I should of waited to take this course. Also he obviously has a chip on his shoulder and claims everything is easy, when the majority of the class can barely string two sentences together. Avoid if you can, class is doable, but hell.
