Comment:

Definitely an extremely nice guy! Very helpful, and is clear on what he wants from you. However, be prepared to take lots of notes, and bring a laptop to class because he goes through slides pretty quickly. He puts all slides on moodle though which i loved! Overall, a very knowledgeable prof.

Alan was definitely my favorite teacher in my first year of studies. Super engaging and made you really exited to go into the field your going into. He gave good feedback and was always there to help. Wish all teachers could be like him, he loves what he teaches!

I can't get over what a sweetheart this guy is. Sincere and engaging. Absolutely lovely. Has a tendency to go on and on in his lectures...but it's nothing off-tangent or boring. He could just include more discussion...thats my only suggestion. Lower levels classes are a little monotonous but upper levels are more his forte. Like I said, a gem.

Whoever put that last comment must have failed the course because that's the only reason anyone who is really interested in learning journalism would say something so totally stupid. While the other profs are stuck in the past, Prof. Bass is actually teaching us so we can really work in journalism today,not 50 years ago.

Alan is the greatest teacher of all time. He makes everything sound so interesting and he knows what he's talking about. His tests are really hard so study a lot and he's a tough marker, but his classes are totally worth it. He likes students who participate in the class discussion. Even if he doesn't agree with you, he marks completely fairly.

Valuable to learn from and he knows his stuff. Challenging classes and assignments, but what is true is that if you are on his good side, you are better off. If he gets the wrong inpression of you, look-out. Many lost grades beacuse of this, but very good prof none the less.
