Learned more in this class than in any other at BU, which also means I worked harder for this class than for every other. An A in the lab demands complete accuracy on your part, which means you are being graded for being an anal-retentive, patient, detail-oriented freak with a steady hand. Supply all that, and Alan will make a chemist out of you.

the best thing about his prelab lectures is that they could be put to a soundtrack; he dances wildly and it's quality free entertainment. as funny as he is, his lab sheets are convoluted and full of contradictions. on his assays, if you get higher than 3% error expect about half credit. expect any lab taken with him to be frustrating.

Chemistry laboratory had potential that went unrealized. Prelab lectures were more about Crosby's day, how anything that goes wrong has an excuse that is not his fault, and how to use a computer properly. LabWrite website was a crutch such that TFs didn't have to teach us how to write lab reports.

I have nothing great to say about this man. The labs are boring ans completely stupid. The TFs are also not much of a help. Worst experince I have ever had dealing with a professor. Web-submit is a waste of time. Lab lectures are a waste of an hour. Skip the lab lectures and boycott web-subit. CRAP!

Crosby is the worst teacher I had this semester. His lab exam was a joke, and I stopped going to pre-lab because it was beyond a waste of my time. If you are taking CH109, take my advice and just go to your tf or Rob for help, Crosby won't do anything for you.

Crosby seems to be a nice guy, however, we are here to learn chemistry, not about websumit. Prelabs are pointless, you learn nothing except websumit, and I think I may have seen him 3 times outside of Pre-Lab.The ch 109 labs are bs, some are stupid, others are hard, and the assays are ridiculous!

ALAN CROSBY IS THE DEVIL. PRE-LAB IS COMPLETELY POINTLESS SO DONT GO UNLESS YOU WANT TO HEAR HIM GO ON AND ON ABOUT WEBSUBMIT. ASSAYS ARE A PAIN IN TEH ASS AS IS ALAN. WORST TEACHER HERE SO FAR. IF U GET HIM..KILL YOURSELF.

A good guy and sincere about his work, but WAY TOO interested in his beautiful little creation, WebSubmit, than any actual chemistry going on...Not very good at explaining things in the lab. The prelab lectures are useless and you should only go if you want to know how great websubmit is.

very focused on accuracy and precision, to the point where if you aren't extremely careful, you could find yourself with a 7/20 on a data assay. gets very excited in prelab to the point where he's almost incomprehensible, im sure he understands...really just pay attention and be careful in lab.

I think Mr. Crosby is one of the most sincere teachers here at BU. He's really into chemistry and the man does know his stuff, he's very admirable. Not to mention helpful and funny. Corny, but funny. You gotta love him!

quant lab is the hardest, most time-consuming class i have taken at BU. For a 2-credit course, it took up 90% of my time. I learned all lab comcepts though. Crosby knows his stuff and he is always there to help the students - very caring guy!

Quant Lab is the only lab at BU that is real. The Quant Lab ethic: work hard, do chemistry, do well. You'll learn and eventually love this class..And you'll make college-long friends in this class. Crosby's my hero.

Even though the course is insanely time consuming, I really like Crosby - he always seems happy to be teaching. To be honest, none of these reviews really matter, since you will only see him once a week unless he is your lab section leader.

There is always something due right around the corner for Quant lab. It is like it's own course it itself, disregarding chem lecture. Alan is very passionate about the labs, but gets so worked up in prelab that his descriptions are unclear. good luck!

Alan is great! Very helpful during office hours and in answering e-mails. However, in lab lectures, he often goes off on several tangents and is not always clear. Was a very challenging lab, but I ended up getting a lot out of it.

I liked him. When he substituted for Hoffman during the lectures, they were significantly better. Also, he is very willing to help you during office hours. If you don't like him and labs, wait til you get to Orgo.

If you're in 109 get ready to learn on your own or if your lucky your TA will teach you. The lab lectures are almost pointless, I dont care how computer savvy Alan is,I need him to tell me what reactions are going on, not how to download macafee viruscan
