Comment:
I had Plaush for my Chem 111 Lab and he was awful. He's very old and he'll tell you it's ok to ask questions, but then screams at you in front of the whole class for asking a question and then forgets what he says. DO NOT TAKE HIM. Trust me.

Comment:
Professor Plaush is a knowledgeable and respectable person. However, that does not precede his methods of teaching. He took off the past semester for health issues and even admitted that he wasn't teaching to his full potential. I took Honors Chem and AP Chem in high school and passed with A's. I received a B- in this class, annihilating my 4.0.

He is so funny. I would take him again honestly. He is super chill but does give quite a few quizzes but you know in advance. The quizzes are not easy but if you study you will be fine. He does not have any rules and doesnt care whether your there or not.

If you can avoid him, avoid him. If I hadn't taken high school chemistry, I would have failed. Not a clear lecturer and doesn't always understand the question a student would ask.

Dr. Plaush is crazy. He is so far off base with reality he cannot connect with students. I took two years of chemistry in high school and did very well, however 1 semester with Dr. Plaush and I struggled so much because he was not open minded to other ways of doing something (dimensional analysis), it had to be done his way, both got same answers

Chemistry is hard. It's even harder with an unclear professor. He's terrible at communicating with students. It's not an impossible class, but I would not take him again

Loved Prof Plaush. Tells very dry jokes, but if you are a nerd, they are funny. Tests are only grades but very easy. Final was literally the same questions from previous tests that you do receive back.

Professor Plaush tried my patience, although I'm usually fairly patient. In trying to explain things, he often simplifies too much. But DO go to class! Some important concepts are thrown into his otherwise dull lectures. His tests are worded strangely, but I got his general drift - just don't be extremely picky with your answers. Fairly easy class.

The easiest a chem class could be, besides the labs are a little difficult. His lectures are terribly boring, and I didn't attend half the classes. For the final simply look at old tests, questions are copy and pasted basically. The book is really only useful for extra credit homework, he posts all his notes online.

Chemistry is a very boring class to begin with and this professor makes it more boring to begin with. He constantly repeats himself, which gets annoying. Tests are all multiple choice and are fairly easy if you study, depending on what the class average is on the tests he may curve them.

I went into this class knowing nothing about chemistry, and left the class feeling exactly the same way. The only reason I passed the class was because he curves tests. He's a nice guy, and if chemistry is a strong point for you, you should do fine.

If you take him for Chem 102, make sure you are near the front. It is hard to hear him in the back plus he is pretty boring. If you do the readings and pay attention you should do fine in class.

Boring class and awful professor. All material I had seen and tested well on in high school but i still struggled in his class because he talks in circles and never uses the book. Everyone in my class slept or left early. Others, including myself brought other work to do.

horrible. he talks in circles. when you ask him a question he talks and talks and gets onto other subjects while he's talking, thereby never answering your question. class is boring. he's just horrible. doesn't help at all!

Only take him if you can teach yourself everything and don't mind a teacher making sense. If you go to his office hours he'll be glad to help but goes completely off topic. I WAS a 4.0 student before this class... no matter how many hours i study he does totally random things on his tests to I've never managed to get above a C+ on any. Terrible.

he's the EASIEST chem prof i have ever had. I usually only went to class on lab days cuz he doesn't take attendance. You can teach yourself everything the day before his exams, which usually only cover one or two chapters at a time. If you HAVE to take chem...take him, you'll pass.

Not clear on what he is teaching at all. Very hard to understand and never refers to text. Reading the text usually doesn't help. Sitting in the front an focusing seems to help. I've made my own study guide for the tests. This seems to work.

Many people do not like Plaush, you have to have patients and bring other homework to his class. Gives you a multiple choice test every other week, which is nice so you don't have to study as much material at once. Lectures on and on about the same thing but very easy and nice guy. Make sure you sit towards the front of the class.

I am currently in his class. The only good thing about this class is his curve and multiple choice tests. I no longer pay attention in the class because he teaches the same thing over and over in one class. I have found myself better off just reading the chapter on my own and teaching myself.

Grade is only based on tests and quizzes for extra credit. Do the problems through the book to make sure that you understand the wording of the questions and things he may not cover. Ask him to explain in class or go to his office and he is more than happy to help. He loves the subject though and you can tell that he wants the students to do well.
