Professor Leidholdt is one of the best SMAD teachers, he tries really hard to have a personal relationship with you and make the lab fun, he's also very passionate about what he teaches and goes over the material well. Very caring teacher and you can easily come to him for anything!

Find another gen ed. Your grade comes from 3 tests including the final. You have 3 projects that do nothing but hurt you because they are so hard and he grades very harshly. If you receive an A on the presentation project your grade will go up a point thats how important tests are. Overall it is just way to hard of a class for being a gen ed.

Fantastic professor! Very funny and very relatable! Only a few papers and analysis, along with a group presentation and a few tests. Highly recommend! One of my favorite classes! Not too difficult if you do the textbook readings and pay attention in class. A+ Professor Leidholdt!

Not the most interesting class but he's very passionate about the material. He really gets to know his students in discussion and will randomly call on people. As long as you do the readings and pay attention in lecture then you will do fine. Tests are multiple choice and study guides are provided, make sure to know about the videos they show

Leidholdt is such an awesome guy! He's a funny and entertaining lecturer but truly wants to get to know and cares about his students. Tests aren't bad at all if you read over the powerpoints and remember the main points of the videos. Helps to be a good writer but he gives good feedback. Take this class especially if you have an interest in SMAD!!

It sucks that you can only miss two classes or else he drops your grade. He's a great guy, he really cares about what he teaches but he's a harsh grader. tests are pretty hard but manageable if you study and go to all classes. He's really funny which is a plus.

I LOVE THIS MAN. he is literally such a character and will keep you interested in his lectures the whole time. he likes to really get to know his students so get ready to talk to him. the assignments aren't bad at all, but it helps if you can write well. the tests are easy if you look over the powerpoint and watch the videos. TAKE HIM!!

The witty Prof. Leidholdt knows his material, clearly enjoys his job and connects well both personally and materially. As mentioned, tests are okay, but papers can be knocked a bit. Still, I would recommend him, but if your hard-pressed for time on-the-daily and grades, this may not be it.

The most fun and engaging professor I've had in my three semesters at JMU. Really goes over material thoroughly and reinforces it each chance he gets. Clearly loves his job and performs at a high level. Pretty quirky and witty, which will probably make you laugh in class. Tests aren't bad, but he grades papers harshly. Would completely recommend.

Professor Leidholdt is extremely funny and he is a great teacher! His lectures are interesting and he is very wise. However, he is a super hard grader. Make sure to know exactly what we wants on an assignment to do well. His tests are fairly easy, just study the lecture PowerPoints, video clips, and readings.

I really enjoyed this class. Some interesting stuff and Leidholdt is super enthusiastic about the material which makes it easier to attend the lectures. My only complaint was the papers, which were difficult to write and he grades hard. Exams were easy with a basic amount of studying. Is a lot of reading but a lot of common sense material.

Long readings for every class. Stands at the front and lectures the whole time while asking questions. Some video examples. Content is interesting but delivery is not. Tests are very hard with random book questions from hundreds of pages of reading. It's basically a history class. Was disapointed by this class! He is helpful in office hours.

Alex is very funny and super engaging! He really cares about what he is teaching, He is kind of strange at first, but you'll get used to it. Exams are fairly straight forward with big concept questions. You watch lots of videos but you actually have to pay attention to them. The readings are pretty important too.

Leidholdt is an awesome guy and he loves what he teaches. This class was history of radio and television and I enjoyed it but it is a lot of work. You need to do the readings or else you won't know what is happening. Class is based off of discussion and videos. Always was there when I needed help. This was a tough class, winded up with a B.
