Dr. Fisher was the best thing Queen's Music had going for it, and the department is going to suck without him. The most interesting, complex professor I ever had. I will cherish his Fisherisms for the rest of my days!

Having Dr. Fisher for upper year courses is very different than for intro theory courses. He projects his brilliance on his students, and inspires creativity and innovation. I learned so much more than simply the course content, Dr. Fisher inspires a love of knowledge as well as a passion for music!

Its difficult to really rate Dr. Fisher, because he seems like a fantastic guy. Truly, I think his problem is that he is TOO smart and unfortunately a lot of us can't particularly FOLLOW what he is saying. I believe he'd be well suited to PH.D students...not lower level theory.

Very interesting person. Music theory in itself is an abstract subject, and because he has an elevated vocabulary (and loves throwing in metaphors and analogies) some students find him difficult to follow...having said that, I enjoy his classes. He stresses the context and the logic behind the theory, not just the rules. Plus he's a lot of fun.

I think he is better suited for classes where the students already have a strong background and don’t necessarily have to understand the topic which is often blurred in a mess of 'Fisherisms". He is also not the best person to go to for extra help since he tends to be pretty insulting.

Dr. Fisher is not the easiest professor you'll ever have, but a true gem. He is funny and tries to make dry material accessible to students. He is very open and helpful.

Dr. Fisher doesn't give away marks. You have to work hard in his course. He is brilliant, funny, and opened my ears and mind. He really is the best in that department.

I still remember the day of 9-11. I was completely disallusioned and wondered how I could possibly dedicate a life to art when all these horrible things happen to good people. Dr. Fisher said: Once you get down to the basics of life, you still need to fill it with something. I've lived by it ever since. Thank You.

I wish I could take Fisher’s 191 again knowing now what I learned in 291. I’d definitely have a lot more fun without being so intimidated by the material.

I wouldn't go as far to call the department horrible. The professors are weak and so are the students, but the vibe and potential is there. Anyways, Fisher was my favourite and I will miss him. Don't be fooled by the rating, he excels in areas that are not specified by this survey.

If you are overly concerned with marks, he will be frustrating, because though I have found his marking fair, he sometimes offers an unfair challenge to be marked. However, in attempting to meet these challenges you will learn well. Great prof.

One of the kindest and most abstract professors I've had. There was never a dull moment in this class. While I found his teaching very unclear at times and I will now always think of D major as a "nice, spring chord" I will never forget that
