Professor Stewart is a really funny, great guy to listen to. That being said, he is the exact opposite as a teacher. Most of my class was having trouble understanding what he wanted on the tests. Basically, reword everything he tells you. Anything you draw from outside sources for examples other than a vague reference is considered "off-topic."

I was a Philosophy minor with 21 hours of Phil. 12 were upper lvl. That being said, I think I have a good grasp of Dr. S. If you have an open and quick mind, and can stand to hear a self-absorbed old man tell off topic stories, then take Stewart. If you cannot take a joke, or never want to question yourself or your beliefs then stay far far away.

Very interesting man, very bad teacher. Bring something to do during class, lectures are incoherent and off topic. Quite possibly the funniest class you will ever take (or the most fun)

His test are VERY subjective, depending on his mood and if he likes you.DO the homework, it may be the only thing that saves you, that and the take home test he gives as a final (thank goodness!) I enjoyed his class alot.

His class is intresting. His tests our essays over the discussed document and our sometimes too subjective. If you do the work you should do well, though.

Never take English with him in the summer. It will be a nightmare for you. He does not teach english, he teaches philosophy instead.
