He is a great prof. He doesn't over-complicate things, but he keeps the course challenging enough to still be interesting. He thoroughly goes through each example and his exam questions come right from the stuff he has taught in class. He is pretty funny and a little quirky as well, which is always enjoyable. Classes are definitely worth attending.

Every class he shows students how to do an example, and a semester passes. He doesn't like students to memorize stuffs but to understand though doing real problems. Some complained that the pace in class was a little bit fast, but I find it's not possible to teach this course otherwise. He's doing the best to make sure we gain the most.

I wish this man could teach me every course! Absolutely amazing human being, genuinely cares about every one of his students and will help you any way he can. Incredibly passionate about his subject and loves to have fun and make jokes. His eyes pretty much light up when he gets really into his lecture. Make sure you go to class! Best prof ever!

He's a popular prof, and I can see why. He frequently makes jokes, swears in class, and tells occasional stories. However, the quality of his classes aren't that great if you'd like to learn something while you're there. The final exam is very easy though, you only need to study a list of potential questions which were all covered in class.

Some of the comments mention about swearing as a good thing but not everyone enjoys that. He is good at teaching classes but if you are looking to work with him in grad school and if you are a guy, think twice. He prefers to work with female students and get along with them. If you are not comfortable with sexual jokes that might be a problem too.

Ali is a fantastic teacher. This course can be boring, but going to class is a must. There is no text book and Ali does all the mapping questions on the overhead projector. He is incredibly likable and helpful and will favor those who attend class. If you are going to do this course do it with Ali.

Amazing prof..he taught me back in 2001. Earth Sc.1002 is nothing like the 1000 course.. a lot of equation type stuff.. but he will work with you over and over until you get it. He makes sure every student knows what their doing. I gave up my earth sc degree bc of all the chemistry and math and physics.. but i finished this course with a 93%

Ali is a great prof. He's hilarious! I dropped the course, due to the material. If you're not very skilled at mathematics (as i'm not), I don't suggest taking Earth Science 1002 with ANY prof. It is very different from the introductory 1000 course. Ali provides a lot of help, and also gives the questions previous to the exams.

What can I say about Ali? Hands down the best prof at MUN, his love for the topics shows and really gets his class very interested. He really hates to see people do bad and will go the extra mile to help you individually. He's funny and the nicest person around! Remembers everyones names! Also has great teaching technique! The man's wonderful!
