He was just average. The tests were hard but he gives a lot of partial credit. the class itself was average his live lectures for the online class are extremely needed, he was good at explaining things if you asked the right question but asking that question wasn't easy

Prof. Ali Mili is regarded as easy grader which is indeed true. But, the course is not worth taking. There are no tools to learn its all Math with proofs. All you will deal with is Sets and Functions. There's a group project make sure your group is good enough to solve the unthinkable. There are 3 assignments and 1 Final. I would give 3 stars.

Comment:

Online class. Very helpful professor. Lectures were engaging, office hours were helpful but not mandatory. Extremely supportive, responsive and willing to go the extra mile to teach. Exams are open-book and done on computer. No reason any programmer or aspiring programmer shouldn't get an A (or at least a B) in this class.

Professor Mili answers questions helpfully, and gives clear expectations for assignments and exams. Some of the assignments take some time to program, but the exercises are worth while.

Strong background in programming is useful for this course. Took this class online. Teacher is very approachable, very responsive, provided weekly live online office hours. Also provided numerous examples and old sample exams and old sample solutions on request. There's no reason anyone who puts effort into this class should fail with this teacher.

Best professor in NJIT. He like teaching and like students. Very responsive to questions and emails. he likes to help students. He walks students step by step to understand the topic. This is my second class and I attend the third :-)

More research focused than teaching focused. Incomprehensible most of the time, so best just to teach yourself. Project and exams are a little difficult. Expects the right words and does not care about detailed explanations.

I'm surprised at all the negative reviews. He records the lectures and post them online for the students (along with the PP). Exams are very challenging but open book. Total of 2 exams and a project (which is done in parts through the semester). Attendance is mandatory.

Terrible professor. Was a waste of time for a required course. Didn't even set up online course website. Was an extremely unprofessional class with no real point to any subject matter. I learned nothing I didn't already know from this course.

Not clear in the class but curve really good. Data structures is a tough class. If you want to pass I really recommend taking this teacher. Even though he was not clear I still came out with a B+. He is a very easy grader.

Very good teacher but terribly boring at times. The homeworks which for us were 50% of the grade are very leniently graded and the teacher provides much help with them. Very prompt when students ask for assistance. Be prepared to use WebCT, he lives through it.

Don't even bother coming to class. Trying to understand him is like trying to understand the micro-machines guy talking in Tunisian. He isn't clear with his assignments, and expects you to read his mind. He DOES grade with a curve, if the T.A. is cool.
