Professor Green has structured this class very well. It's not easy by any means, but not hard by any means either. Two lectures every week. Once a week you will meet with a TA called a "section" in which you will further discuss things in the textbook. It definitely was a good UP to take if you like structure and consistency.

By far the most difficult 100 level class I have ever taken. It was ridiculous how harshly she graded, especially exams. All exams were essays and nobody ever got an 'A' on them. You have to write a paper every week and discuss them in sections, which is very tedious. Take a different prof if possible, unless you want a class that's a 400 level

She's quirky and zany and always has her points up for you to follow. I say the lecture isn't mandatory only because you can read everything in the textbook and there's no attendance count for lecture, but she makes all the points crystal clear and contextual. I love her class.

Must take notes during every lecture, this was the only class I didn't get an A in. She doesn't give you an email address to get a hold of her, you have to go to her office.

Lecture is not mandatory but you MUST attend if you want to do well on exams. Sections are pretty easy. You have write a one page precis almost every week from the book but it is easy to do and should only take 45 mins at max. Exams are multiple choice and Essay plus one "mini" precis. Everything comes from notes.

Lecture isn't mandatory but the section meetings pretty much are. The only homework you have is to write a 1pg paper on a question and use quotes from the Breen book. Don't really use Foner that much unless for other info. You get a lot more out of 111 than you do 101. Would definitely recommend her, pretty simple easy and straight forward course.

I would not recommend this class at all. It's more of an English Class than a History Class. And I'm pretty sure that she thinks that hers is the only class that the students take the entire semester. Her lectures are extremely boring. I actually had a very hard time staying attentive in them. Before I took her class I liked history. not now

I don't complain about reading, but this class could easily absorb all my time, even if it were the only one I took. She is knowledgable, but it is overshadowed by her overuse of the word "right." I counted, she used in 411 times in a 2 1/2 hour class period.

Personally don't see the huge deal with exams. She TELLS you what's on it, you just have to know your stuff. So read a little and pay attention and you'll do fine.

I'm a pre-law student and was incredibly excited to study the Revolutionary War, the Feds-Anti Feds and the Constitution. We didn't spend near enough time on that(in my opinion), but Dr. Green is a Civil War EXPERT; so the latter half of the class was a blast. Yeah, she's a tough teacher but she makes you work for your grade! I recommend her.

Great Teacher! People complain about the class being difficult, but it's only difficult if you don't pay attention. The advice I give is DO the study guides (They help out a lot!) Overall HST 111 was an extremely interesting class and she gives great notes-you just have to listen! Its college-not high school

Dr. Green expects you to be an excellent writer and know every single detail about her class. her lectures are super boring and not organized, and Jeff is a HORRIBLE guy to have for lab. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS OR WELL DONT TAKE HER! She will show up late randomly, then her mic wont work and its just a mess !

This semester I got a 3.8 with A's in Bio, Chem, Psych, and Health Fit.; I got a B from Dr. Green. To say this class is hard is an understatement. She expects master writing, and is very subjective. This class is not a History class, but a writing class taught by Hitler. Yes she is nice, but if you care about your grade, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
