I love Professor Hepburn! His lectures are so opening and incredibly articulate, and you really speculate the material as he goes through with detailed analyses. Easily one of the best profs I've had at McGill to date. He's also extremely prompt via email and accommodating with office hour extensions. Really helpful and wants to see you do well.

Allan is a gem. Easily one of the best profs i have had at mcgill. I took his irish lit course and his american lit course and both were terrific. his lectures are enthralling. he is articulate, learned and gives clear feedback. He gives you plenty of feedback throughout the semester as well so you know where to improve.

Hepburn is a really solid prof. He expects a lot from his students, both in the amount of reading, and in terms of essays and exams. He's truly passionate about his field of study and is a fountain of useful historical backgrounds to everything we read in the Euro Novel.

Your mission, and you WILL choose to accept it, is to take Hepburn's Spy Fiction class. Some knowledge in German will help, but it is not obligatory. Prof. Hepburn is absolutely fabulous, quite witty and intelligent. I learned so much, and I felt guilty for the one time I missed class. I was on a spy mission at the time.

This guy truly is a genius. Or he's just really well-read. Very challenging but very worth taking. Insightful and good choice of course material. Do not take for an elective simply to boost your gpa..or else, be ready to work! Overall, very nice&respectful guy. Despite his intelligence, he's very open to students' observations and never condescends

Take his classes. Prof. Hepburn is a wonderful teacher and his lectures are always insightful, lively, and well-organized. He's considerate, patient, and always genuine with the validity of your ideas. He'll stop you before you get caught in dead-ends. Stays true to the text--he'll teach you how to really READ.

Funny, entertaining, and extremely kind and sincere. However, he does expect a lot from his students and does tend to, though is may be unintentional, cater to his favourites who have taken another class with him and so know him better.

He's a really funny guy in lecture, but his analyses aren't brilliant. They're cheeky and random. Take him for the jokes - but there are more insightful professors out there. (Also, watch out for the final, it's a marathon.)

Fascinating, dynamic lecturer. Puts a funny twist on things while analyzing the heck out of every text. Unfortunately the class atmosphere inhibits participation - you can't interrupt him. And there's a heavy reading list. But you'll laugh as you study.

hepburn is one of the best profs you will ever have. he's really engaged with students, grades fairly and gives really insightful feedback, and most importantly, he's able to generate fascinating interpretations of texts through the most random of tropes. a fantastic teacher.

sure he's read a lot - but he does with texts what he does with people - reduce them all to a tired set of types. And, sorry, but anyone who thinks he can do Tolstoy in a day is just ******* pretentious

He's a very good English prof. Throws a LOT of important information at you, but it is all very cohesive and relevant. A very interesting lecturer, although he can come across as a little arrogant at times. I think if I took a class with him that WASNT at 830 I'd be a better judge!

he's a reasonably interesting and engaging lecturer who's especially good at really original and insightful readings of poetry. but he puts a high premium on his opinions, and makes them the focus of his testing.

He's an character attacker. Don't go to his office hours to pick stuff up. He thinks that if you miss a class it's because you don't know how to function in university, and he won't be afraid to chew your head off about it for oh.. say, 25 minutes...
