Dr. Sens is a genuinely kind human being who is definitely more professor than academic (not to say that he isn't brilliant, he just clearly does the job to teach). The class has a ton of short assignments which aren't hard, but are designed to chip away at the high average. You can get an A, but even if you're brilliant he's force you below 90.

When he describes the format of assessment and expectations, assume he's lying. The surprise twists he throws in are compensated for by incredible lectures and hilarious subject material.

Hands down one of the best professors in the Poli Sci department at UBC. If anyone was looking for some UN related courses, take this one and NOT POLI 364. You can thank me later.

Guaranteed among the top 10 best professors @ UBC. Wild character, hilarious jokes, and pleasant to just be around. The man is incredibly intelligent and witty. You will want to go to lecture- for once. Not just a class but an experience. #10/10wouldwatchSenswearcolourfulshirtsagain

He is one of few professors at UBC that actually cares about his students! He is an extremely fair marker, and if you watch his videos before the exam, you will do very well! He's quirky, but makes dry topics interesting! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Sens is a fun and entertaining lecturer. I found that his lectures seemed to lacked depth, often making ambiguous thematic statements rather than analysing different perspectives. That being said, he's fairly clear with expectations, and is worth taking a class with overall.

Best course at UBC. I went in with little interest (mandatory Impact of Tech on Society elective), but it turned out to be my favourite class, largely due to the instructors. Sens has a real charisma in his lectures, and uses a flipped model, so you'll be doing the bulk of the lectures online and activities in class.

Best prof I've had: APSC/POLI 377 was the most enjoyable and informative class I have taken at UBC. It's a bit out of my shell - it's pretty far off from my usual engineering courses - but it was amazingly well put together and well taught. This is the perfect reverse-classroom course: excellent videos and prep, and well designed in class activites

Best lecturer around. Best shirt collection around. Discussion groups didn't seem to really mesh with class material. Assignments were fair.

Sens is by far the best professor at UBC. He is everything you want to have in a prof, approachable, funny, interesting,crystal-clear and does his best to know your name(even in a class of 300 people). If you have the opportunity TAKE HIS COURSE.

This is my fourth class that I have taken with this professor and he is one of, if not the best professors in the department. He is passionate about the topics but also about his students. He is funny and engaging. Has amazing stories to tell, if you are a POLI major/minor you HAVE to take one of his classes. Just amazing.

He looks exactly like Louis Litt. He also had the most fascinating stories to share with the class and he lectured in a way that made the course material interesting to learn about and easy to understand. It was really littastic.

If you ever get a chance to take one of his classes I highly recommend it. He will make you want to attend class with his fascinating lectures and jokes. It is a lot of work and he doesn't usually give above 90, but it's not difficult to do well.

You can tell he loves this topic. Such an approachable person, and genuinely wants to help you out. Big group assignment, 2 midterms, term paper, and a final exam. Easy-ish marker, but a lot of deadlines. You need to go to class.

An awesome prof. Even if you don't love Peacekeeping (which is what this course was about), he's just awesome. I had him for 260 as well and he's the best Poli prof out there. Grading is thorough, but I'd say it's fair, some readings at the beginning; practical, case based, exams which were actually fun (ish) to write.
