I had him for IS at SFU, actually, and loved his class! He was always very interested in the material, and had high-energy. He was definitely opinionated, but I didn't mind. Tests were easy if you prepared for them. Really enjoyed this class.

MY GOD Pereira if you are reading this i hope you do realize how pathetic you really are! U waste our tuition money by cancelling classes, coming in to class 30-40 minutes late and making ur class wait for you. U dont even follow the course syllabus, lectures all cluttered and unorganized. U don't even deserve to be a UBC professor. Go back to SFU

Comment:
The course is a bit more model-oriented, but the models are mostly linear equations. Most of the lecture is similar or same as the textbook, but he does add some insights outside of the textbook. Occassionally mumbles through and may not convey clearly, but is very nice to students.

His class is fun, teaching is clear. exam is easy. but he does not reply e-mails, and you cn't find his phone or office hour. I got A on this course, but I expected an A+. I guss that my final score is not as good as I expected, stilll have to go to department to review my final before I could tell

This guy is a great professor for those of you who like to learn a little more than just what is bound by the course. His exams are easy if you do all the assignments and slides. He repeats some of the questions word for word! He is very disorganized!! Does not reply to any emails. He need to be reprimanded by the department!

Although you can tell that he is passionate about the subject, he tends to digress. Provided countless irrelevant examples. Instead he should just be clear and concise And on the first day of class he wanted to change the course schedule, and you could tell that he isn't very professional, doesn't bother to answer emails either.

TERRIBLE PROF!! Always late for classes, never responds to emails, poorly worded questions on tests, and a very bad teaching style (copies notes word for word from the text). One of the worst econ classes I've taken yet. Definitely not recommended.

The best prof I had at UBC. Guess his research wasn't up to snuff for UBC's econ department intl. rankings' obsession? Still a huge loss from a student's perspective and a steal for York (UK). Fair exams, quite compreshensive though. You really get to learn the material in his classes that are quite interesting considering the subject.

This was not a hard course he was teaching but his lectures were convoluted. He's probably a brilliant man but extremely disorganized to the point that he's moved on to another university leaving me to deal with the department over an administrative mess he left of my grade.

Nice & intelligent guy but he's so disorganized, it's not even funny. Yes, it's understandable that he had it hectic w/ 2 babies & moving back to England, but... And the T.A. was horrendous! Very, very hard & unfair in marking.Who the hell do these TA's think they are?!?

opionated but intellectually light (or maybe just lazy), glossing over entire centuries in one lecture. Sometimes drones on and on about the same things from econ 234. I'm not sure how much his research applies to the "real world" but I bet he can play a mean game of Sid Meier's Civilization 3!

he is a great prof, and makes it very clear what one needs to do inorder to do well in his course. His writing is messy, but his explanations are clear, and most of what he writes down he gives to you in his typed lecture notes that he posts online.
