Although I agree with the comments about a too fast paced lecture, Amy is such an amazing prof and the reviews here do not do her proper justice. I would take 1000 more classes with her. She is funny captivating and has a true passion for bio which has begun to rub off onto me. Her exams are fair and if you put in the work you will succeed

I love Amy Frary more than life itself! She is a fantastic professor and I highly recommend her classes. Bio 145 A Green World was one of my favorite classes I've ever taken! Amy is the plant queen. Her lectures are super engaging and fun. Amy has instilled me with a passionate love of plants!

Prof. Frary is a great person and wonderful teacher. Going to class is very important and be ready to write a lot of notes. There are about 5 exams over the semester and they are important. Labs are also very important, most of the grade is based on labs. I really enjoyed taking this course and would take a class with her again

Any Frary is one of the most amazing professors Ive ever had!! Her lectures are interesting and shes very available to students who have questions/need help!!! Definitely would recommend her class even for people who are non-science people! Ive always been a humanities person and Amy makes me want to be a Biology major.

Amy is extremely quirky; it's great. She may come off as intimidating and that's because she is. However (in all seriousness), she really cares about her students. Her lectures are nearly always interesting and she teaches at a fast pace, so you get to learn a lot! You will see plants in a whole new light: far red light.

Amy is so enthusiatic about plants and her class, in general. She is helpful and generally quick to answer e-mails. Labs are interesting and great opportunities to observe plants from a different perspective. Her exams are difficult, but very fair. If you take the time to study (and ask questions when necessary), you will do well.

Amy is such a great teacher! Although I had no previous interest in learning about plants I found myself engaged during the class. Her enthusiasm and clarity while teaching was also fantastic. I would highly recommend any class with her! You will not regret it.

Prof. Frary is really into plants and is the only Bio teacher I've had who could make plants interesting for me. Her notes are good but rather disorganised and she sometimes goes too fast so it may be difficult to keep up with her. The textbook is completely useless; I did not need it at all and regret buying it.

Professor Frary is the bomb.com and super helpful. Even though I knew a lot of the info we learned in A Green World, the stuff she did teach me was very interesting. She seemed so excited about plants, which is great, because the best teachers are those who are wholly invested in their subject. Don't hesitate! Take her classes.

I had Amy for both A Green World and Developmental Bio. She's so great! She knows so much about what she teaches, and the way she explains things is really great. She's also super approachable and really helpful during office hours if you ever need help. The only hard thing is that her notes are all over the place, but its easy to get used to.

Comment:
Professor Frary is extremely rude. She is a hard grader and just flat out doesn't care. When I went to her office hours to go over an exam she flat out told me that she put questions on the exam that she knew students wouldn't be able to answer. She's very enthusiastic about her class but she is completely full of herself.

Amy loves plants. However, like weeds, her diagrams and notes tend to pop up all over the place when she is in charge of lecture so you'll have to go through everything with a good plow to make sure you're organized. If you can do that then exams are a piece of cake.

Very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about plants. My only warnings are: she speaks and writes quickly and is fast-paced; her diagrams can be cluttered and disorganized; and her lectures can sometimes be disorganized, too. If you take good notes, ask questions, use the text when confused, and study often, you should be good to go.

She loves her field, that's for sure. It shows in her lectures. She speaks a bit quickly and it's hard to get everything down, but in this class it didn't really matter as much because we knew what would be on the tests. Outdoor trips were excellent. :)

I personally like Amy more than Rachel. I guess it's just because Amy is clearer than Rachel. It's true that she talks and writes really really fast, but as long as you look at the notes before exams, you will be totally FINE.

Oh what a difference a passionate teacher makes. When I signed up for this class I thought plant biology would be boring. On the FIRST DAY, Amy proved me wrong. The class had its high and low points, but I got a lot out of it, even though I don't consider myself a science person. I still think about all I've learned to this day.

She's enthusiastic, but that's about all I can say for her. She talks incredibly fast and is disorganized. If you had already learned all the terms and concepts when you listened to her, it would all make perfect sense. Otherwise, it's very easy to get lost. Do the reading in this class before attending lecture. She also comes off arrogant...
