Its a pretty boring class but as long as you show up and do the homework assignments the class shouldn't be a problem. She is a little strange but gives a clear outline of what she expects and also gives extra credit

Comment:

Here's another prof where I can see some may have easy criticisms, but honestly she is a great prof. She's older, but she knows what she is talking about and her lectures are very organized and easy to follow. The tests are not hard either, and I walked out of class learning something everyday. She has her quirks, but who doesn't? I recommend.

Nyberg really tries her best to make her class interesting, but it really doesn't work. It is definitely lecture based. The readings aren't so great but there are quizzes on them. Her study guides suck but her tests are pretty easy so it shouldn't be too bad.

I would definitely suggest taking someone else for Comm research. In addition to taking an eternity to give back major assignments, the comments Nyberg makes are not helpful to say the least. She does not explain the big assignments as thoroughly as she thinks. Thank god for the easy homework assignments.

LITERAL WORST PROFESSOR TO TAKE IF YOU WANT TO BE A JOURNALIST. Has the most outdated views on the industry and I am pretty sure she has dementia. She convinced someone I know not to go into journalism after studying it for four years.

Takes off points for ridiculous things. The Setonian kids are her clear favorites. You have to participate in class, but she will shoot you down if she doesn't agree with you. An impossibly hard grader. If it wasn't required to take her class to graduate, I wouldn't have taken it.

Clear and willing to help. She will lose her patience with you if you are using your phone or talking during her lectures. Attendance is not mandatory (unless a paper is due) so if you have something going on that will distract you, you might as well just not go. Fair and willing to help. You work for your grade but she runs a fairly relaxed class.

She was great! Amy is a great professor! she makes the class so much fun! I had her for woman and the media and writing for the media. I love her discussions and the way she ran the class, everything was so clear. this was the only class I actually wanted to get out of bed for lol.

With Nyberg, Women and the Media is interesting. One great thing about this prof: She is very tolerant of views that differ from her own. The beginning of the semester is very boring, but when the topic moves from news to artifact analysis, things get juicy really fast! Lots of movie watching, moderately easy grader, fun stuff!

Comment:

Smart professor, but thoroughly inept as an educator. Extremely dated in her approach. She fears the antiquity of her field and has the need to project that anxiety onto her students. You seldom know which of her personalities will arrive to class. She's not only a testament to the extinction of her field but a reason to hope for such an outcome.

I've had her for 4 classes and I wasn't a huge fan then, but she's once of those teachers that you look back on you realize she wasn't all that bad and probably better than 95% of the other teachers you took. If you're a slacker you'll probably get nailed, but if your at least quasi-studious you'll do fine. If you're there to learn, she's $$.

She needs a makeover so bad and a thong - cause the panty lines are killing me. Anyway, the subject matter is interesting and she grades really easy. 2 Papers, 2 Tests and 4 Discussion questions. By far one of the easiest comm classes i have taken at the Hall.
