Dr. Yu, please slow down. If you used the whiteboard instead of slides that are many years old, then maybe more then 13(of 200)students may actually attend your lectures, instead of doing what I do and literally read straight out of the textbook for an hour on something you never covered. I had the best calc mark in my region and now i'm at a 90...

Awful. Just an atrocious teacher who has a very good understanding of the content but has proved to lack any ability to teach whatsoever. I attend another lecture in secret just to be able to achieve a passing grade. I recommend switching into another Calc prof's lecture as soon as you find out you have him. He is a poor excuse for a professor.

Awful professor, reads of the slides and doesn't explain anything at all. Worst professor I have had so far

Quite possible the worst teacher I have ever encountered. He has a vast understanding of the content but little to no skills to convey his knowledge clearly and in an understandable manner. Lectures are often empty and his slides are confusing and often have little to no explanation.

Dr. Yu's lecture isn't the most interesting but his lecture slide is second-to-none. You'd better do every single question on his slide because they will show-up during exams. He tend to provide the most mathematically-rigorous explanation and can be confusing, but he is very willing to help, very responsive to emails, and prepare you well for exam

Had him for first year calc 1000. His lectures aren't very interesting and he just recites what is on the powerpoints, but his powerpoints for 2017 were legendary. You could just go off his powerpoints without using a textbook at all and still get a relatively easy 90. (his section average was also by far the highest).

Everyone hates on Yu for his accent, but within the first few days it becomes easier to understand him. His tests can be hard, but he prepares you very well for them and the exams by using his power points. They contain tough exam level questions in them normally, and overall he is a great professor who helps people understand the course material.

I don't mind his accent but he is a not a good lecturer. He tends to skip a ton of steps in his proofs , which makes you super confused. His notes come straight out of the textbook but his quizzes are not questions similar to the textbook practice problems he assigns or his examples. Overall bad experience.

Could not understand most of the things that he said. English is not his first language. You can tell he's a smart guy and knows his stuff but he's definitely not the best at teaching it. I also found this courses quizzes, midterm, and final extremely hard... Hope this helps someone.

At first you won't understand what he's saying because of his accent but eventually it won't be an issue. Very smart, gives good notes. Sometimes the examples he provides are WAY too hard though. Beware of quizzes. Not very good at explaining if you have a question. If you put in the work you can do well.

His command of the english language is very weak. He goes off on random tangents about topics that are unrelated to what we need to know for exams. Prepare to be completely lost, have half the class drop out in the first week, have to rely on the textbook and tutoring to pass but be mildly entertained by his english.

Dr Yu is such a nice man! He has a thick Chinese accent but you will get used to it eventually. He goes though lots of examples that are usually similar to exams and is always willing to help!

If there's one word that describes this guy, it's "stoic." Look it up. As for his teaching, he spends a bit too much time on derivations and not enough time on examples, which is tough since there are so many concepts he has to go over. Biweekly quizzes keep you on the ball, and the exams aren't bad if you spend some time on every concept.

Comment:
Do most, if not all of learning from the textbook. He will also use random shortcuts which are difficult to comprehend, and will not really explain where they come from. He makes extremely difficult examples sometimes, which will have little similarity to difficulty level required for exams.
