The best part of the class is the end of the semester when the final grades come out. The tests are quite challenging. You think you're failing the whole time. I nearly crapped myself when I got a B.

i am a complete math tard and tried to take the easiest math course. this was easy for most, but i still didn't get it. he was very patient with me, answered all my questions and even gave me a passing grade in the class even though i deserved to fail it for being so math challenged.

If you're taking calculus this is the teacher to have. He is extremely helpful and i know i screwed up the final but he still gave me a B+. I feel like if he knows your trying and you ask questions and do well on the quizzes which are pretty easy. He is straight-foward and will help you out. Best teacher in department I agree.

Great lecturer who is very willing/ able to explain/ approach lessons in different ways to enable everyone to understand. Lots of HW, but he only checks for completeness. Quizzes are straight off HW. Final was a little rough, but allows you to use note cards. Dr Engel made the course enjoyable and enriching.

he's pretty funny with a dry sense of humor. he knows how to explain things. very concise and straightforward. quizzes are straight from the homework. the midterm is quite a toughie so study really hard. overall hes a good guy. knows his calculus.

speak up in class and say you dont understand things and he will keep explaining it different ways until you do. quiz every thursday are annoying but come STRAIGHT from the homework. he drops bottom 2 grades and one more if u do all the homework. hes willing to help if ur willing to ask him for help

Good hearted man who is interested in helping students. Middle of the road difficulty, but at least gives partial credit. Exams are fair...nothing you haven't seen. Homework is fierce without Vasoline (supply for yourself). Could do more examples, but hey..nobody's perfect. Pro - he knows his stuff.

Hes never there.His class is boring.If you get the right answer on the test and show youre work you still only get 1 out of 10 points if work shown is not EXACTLY how he wants it.Seems nice but stabs u in the back by giving tests that everyone fails.if u get a 69.99 in the class he will give u a D

he is a bad teacher as far as content is concerned.everything comes straight from the book and you get no variety of examples. lets you use a notcard on test but test are unfair and cover alot that he does not go over extensively.class is extremely boring

Definitely one of the best instructors I ever had. Tests aren't easy but not too bad with your note cards and extra time. Doesn't expect you to memorize all formulae. Very reasonable and got tons of patience. Lectures are extremely well-organized.

Nice guy. Sick, so never there. Likes to help, wont put ppl down for asking questions. LOTS OF HOMEWORK and dont expect to get good grades on it either. Must study for tests. Onlyhard if he calls in sick for ONE MONTH!
