Comment:
Intro neuro is easily one of the most difficult classes I have ever taken. He was so unhelpful and his tests were absurd with the amount of information he expected us to know, despite the fact that he didn't teach us anything and just sat in the corner of the room on his computer. Obviously take this class if you wanna major in neuro, but be warned

Yes, he's a boring professor. Clear to understand and almost everyone gets an A or a B if they do the work. He gives helpful feedback and is a friendly guy. He just doesn't know how to make the subject matter interesting. If you're okay with that, sign up for his classes. Senior seminar in neuroscience was better than his other classes, though

He's so boring. SO BORING! He's really interested in what he likes (bugs and comparative psych) so if you're into that, give him a try. He's not very helpful outside of class. Also,he is inconsistent about his expectations and what he tests you on.

People often say bad things about him because they take intro with him and are just trying to get out of the natural science credit and don't care about the information. but if you're willing to come to class, he is SO CLEAR - take good notes, and you'll get As on the tests. he is also very helpful, VERY well informed, and cares a lot.

WORST CLASS EVER. The majority of the class got Cs or below on his tests, and he said that was "the usual." Apparently he's ok with that. Do not take this class with him it will destroy your gpa.

intro to neuroscience is not exactly the best class ever. diff teachers teaching every lecture is frustrating b/c this is an intro class, so having something more systematic would help. reading is overwhelming! must memorize the most uv ever in your life for this class. only 3 tests n they determine ur grade, many ppl drop out, huge class size

The book is pretty useless and he's not the most fascinating lecturer I've ever come across, but he clearly cares about the subject and has a few funny stories. Furthermore, he's very helpful during office hours. I'd recommend attending even though it's a lecture class; some of what he lectures about is not in the book and he takes roll randomly.

Relies heavily on powerpoint. Does an excellent job of clarifying and personalizing his lectures. We all wish we could have discussions, but with forty kids, lets face it, we just have to sit and listen. Communicates information clearly. I learned a lot.

Comment:
His tests tend to be a bit arbitrary, placing too much focus on certain topics and not enough on others. Also be sure to pay attention the the correct terminology because every test has a couple of questions that are just about random vocab. But honestly, Niemiec is super nice, has many great stories, and with some effort, his class is not hard.

The worst class I've taken at Kenyon by far. Powerpoint day after day is mind-numbing and although the material may have been interesting he was certainly not. Also stood me up three times when I tried to come to his office hours (with appointment. I thought he was an awful teacher and I wish I hadn't wasted a semster in his course.

Holly ****, Andy is a nice guy. You don't come across many professors who care about professor/student interaction more. Always willing to lend a hand-- and doesn't pull any punches.
