It is a very lecture heavy class. Practically every class, you have a paper due by answering questions from the book that is required. He kind of gets side-tracked a TON and sometimes his lectures seem to have nothing to do with the new test... He will grade strict on exams (picky w/ spelling) if you do the study guides.. you will do well!!!

He is a really well rounded guy. He has great knowledge in what he is teaching, but often gets lost in his own bunny trails. He also gives the impression that he will never forget my names, where I live, or what year I will graduate. His tests are not fun and the work we do in class leaves no indication that the tests will be hard.

Love how his lectures are more discussions. Super funny guy that will crack religious jokes during class. His tests are word for word from the study guide so if you know the study guide you will get an absolute minimum of 90 percent. Really knows his stuff. I really liked him. Such an easy grader and class.

Very knowledgeable and engaged far more material than just the textbook. Had us translating from Philo, Josephus, Didake, almost all of Galatians, etc. Really heavy on practical application of course content.

Better than some, thinks he's open to different ideas (claims to be the most progressive member of his church) but really isn't. In the low-level class I took, he was funny but didn't engage us with the material, and I could have slept through class and still gotten an A.

He was a decent professor. His tests were mostly fair, coming from lecture notes and text reading. Lectures were a little dull but he mixes in group work. His communication is the worst, he doesn't always respond to emails and is extremely slow at grading which makes studying and improving rough. Oh but his jokes are hilarious.

He is very intelligent and makes learning a very difficult language easy and fun. Just watch out for his corny jokes and his sometimes odd sense of humor. Watch out though cause his arms frequently get tired from flying into Grand Rapids from Chicago.
